As a single child raised by a single mother I can say that I allways knew how to dress properly through my father who sadly passed away when I was young. I didnt have him for a long time but I still learned a lot from him.

My husband is a high school teacher in the greater Los Angeles area and, thanks to you Okey, we are currently on the hunt for his first sport coat. He believes that he can change the tone of his classroom by bringing more respectful, professional attire into his wardrobe rotation.

Speaking from experience growing up in a single parent household I had no choice but to learn on the go…that was the case for most of my friends also…playing sports and joining the military was when I learned discipline, integrity, etc and it taught me how to lead but to be able to follow also…so Proff I really appreciate the way you breakdown men’s dress and other matters of life as concerning how to be a gentleman with masculinity…Respect

It is important, even in intact families, to teach children to seek out and be open to mentorship. I taught my children to reach out to their uncles, grand parents and to my work colleagues for guidance. This is an important life skill. The absence of this skill holds back many adults.

We tend to see the mother's role in raising children. But this is a team job, and fathers are just as important

Growing up, my father was in my life but did not live with me & my mother. It was what it was. One of my uncles (my mother's older brother, an Air Force veteran) taught me how to properly tie a neck tie.

This is deep, Prof. Very deep and quite true. God bless you for this.

Brilliant, Proff. As a primary (elementary) school teacher, I believe it is my duty to set an example to my students, so I dress appropriately for such an occasion. Shirt, tie etc.
We have an important role to play.

Nails it. Proff has created a forum and a brand where he can address these critical issues head-on.

The problem is far greater than the absence of sartorial role models in the home, it’s the decline in dress standards of the elite. It has become a common sight for very successful men in the 50-70 year old age group to dress in t-shirt, jeans, gym shoes, hoodies and ball caps. These people are effectively sending the message that dressing well is for squares.
