Frequently the cause of misting windows is due to water (condensation) collecting in the heater/AC box inside the dashboard. This box has drain hose(s) that normally will allow the water to exit, but frequently gets plugged with dust and debris trapping the water inside the dash forever.

Crawl under the car (or next time your car's in for an oil change) and look for a rubber tube hanging down near the gear change lever location. Run a wire coat hanger (do they make these any more?)--bent at the end so it doesn't puncture the tubing--and route out the stuffs in there. Watch out--dirty, nasty water will pour out when you get it un-stuck.

The cat litter hack is awesome!
Using my cat litter sock for almost a year now and no more damp car windows.
And I didn't change the sock for fresh litter. It still works!
