Don't forget about that MAGIC BOOK THAT LETS YOU GO ANYWHERE YOU WANT. Then is just conveniently forgotten about like it's not important at all.

This is the first time that I actually love the remake more than the original. I love these changes, I love the cast, and the songs, and everyythiiiing 💖

There was no way this version was going to surpass the animated version (they would've had to dig up Jerry Orbach to do that), but this movie was awesome. The changes did not take away from the animated version- they just enhanced this one. The animated version is still my all-time favorite, but this version is a close second.

I can only think of Hermione from Harry Potter every time I see Belle honestly

there are more changes in the new Beauty and the Beast. aside from what Insider stated, here are more: [ SPOILER ALERT ]

1. In the new version, they told something about Belle's mom and how she died.
2. His father's invention was a music box not a wood-cutter.
3. Lumiere and Cogsworth were the ones who introduced Belle to her bedroom and said not to go to the west wing.
4. When Belle got in her room, shedid not cry on the bed, she just sat at the corner, scared.
5. In the new version, Belle teaches how to read.
6. The reason why Beast locked Maurice was because he picked a rose from his garden, in the original version, it was because he intruded.
7. There was a magic map where it can take you somewhere your heart desires.
8. Gaston killed Beast with a gun, not with a knife (but Gaston also fell and died)
9. In the original version, at the scene where it's snowing and Beast and Belle are outside, Beast tried to feed the birds but in the new version, he tried to woo Felipe (the horse)
10. Maurice got lost because of a tree that fell and blocked his way so he went to the other way, in the original version, he went to the other way because he thought it was a shortcut.

That's all I remember from the movie and btw, THE NEW VERSION WAS SO BEAUTIFUL I JUST BOTH LOVE THE NEW AND THE OLD.

Honestly, people who say the changes are bad are biased, point blank. You might prefer the original, and that's fine, but to say the changes were all bad is just you being too attached to another idea to allow any new ones. There are things I prefer about the original, but so many things the new one did right. (Spoilers below)

Aside from making the village forget, they also corrected the plothole of why is everyone else in the castle cursed? Because they, too, did something wrong - were so content with their lives they didn't care to help the prince at all when his father was ruining him. Belle's father Maurice is a much better character, contributing to the story in such a powerful way - I liked seeing him be a true father and refusing to give Gaston Belle's hand even when it meant his life-, and the tale of Belle's mother brought more of France into the story than just people saying bonjour. Gaston's character is so much more real, as is the way the climax unfolds. I definitely prefer the plot of him trying to kill Belle's father/only making him seem crazy to cover up his failed attempt. It was much better to see Belle leaving because of that than just seeing her father sick. I think it gave the plot more urgency.

Changes that few seem to discuss is the way the romance unfolds. The beast no longer gives Belle the bedroom, it's lumiere. The beast is skeptical of Belle's character. As opposed to the original, where he planned on romancing her to break the curse from the get-go, in this one, the objects are urging him to do so, but he does not want to at all. I personally prefer this, as while I love the cartoon, I always thought it seemed a bit funny that she just happened to be a girl, happened to be someone who could maybe break a curse, so he would try to be romantic toward her. The special connection wasn't there, aside from her being unshallow and willing to look beneath the surface, but of course, I didn't pay much mind to that as it was a classic cartoon. In this version, the library is not a planned gift. He shows it to her and is stunned by how much she loves books and gives it to her. The library feels like such a bigger gift to Belle in this version, as it was realistic to the culture of women not going to school or getting an education in those times, therefore she could not get more than a few books from church in her town. The beast himself was a reader in this version, so he enjoys having her read to him numerous times, and the two bond on not only a love of literature but feeling like the odd one out. I found the romance much more believable in the live action, also because she is aware that a human is inside him and that there's a curse - altho doesn't know how to break it - unlike the original, where it seems a little odd if you think about it, as the beast is much less human in the original and Belle has no idea he's not a beast, yet falls for him anyway. Also, thought it was nice the Beast actually apologizes for how he treated her father, in this version.

The enchantress is in the background from start to finish, and it's interesting how she never lets anyone to the palace except for Belle and Maurice who were foreigners. Gaston cannot access it until the very end, when he has the magic mirror, and at that point it's the end of her curse so she is at the final battle seeing how it unfolds. The final battle itself is much more intense in my opinion. While I did miss seeing Gastons hair get torn apart in the rain while he fights, the shooting of the beast was so brutal, and I teared up hearing Belle screaming please! stop! please! as she tries to drag the beast away and he keeps shooting. Not to mention the beast actually dies - with his eyes open! -shudders- the stakes were higher. I felt like when Belle finally said I love you, you could hear the fear in her voice like it was scary to admit it, and the pain that it was too late - just really relatable I think. Also, some of the lyric changes were a huge bonus for me. I loved hearing Lefou sing that he felt conflicted during the mob song, and hearing Gaston admit he's simply manipulating everyone, and this is all just about getting Belle back.

All in all, I love both of them. I don't know if I have one I love more than the other, but I'm more likely to watch this one when I get in the mood for Beauty and the Beast, as it just feels more whole and well thought out and believable.

Beauty and the beast feels like something Shakespeare would write...

In the original film, the beast didn't know how to read (he might've forgotten how to read). In the new film, he mentioned he had a very expensive education

The movie was amazing except from Emma Watson’s acting and the historical inaccuracy of the ballgown (they didn’t even try to make it look gold, what did they do with the half a million?) and wedding dress. The rest of the movie was historically accurate but then they just decided to change it for her dress.

The new live-action is amazing, they've stayed very truthly to the original, the cast is incredible, they have done an amazing job.The changes I think they're okay, introduce mire choreography is really cool and about the begining and the rest of it, well it's okay.I've enjoyed a lot this movie while I was watching it.😍

Also another change was the cut the part where belle sits on the fountain reading and singing with sheep around her. They probably cut that because they couldn’t do sheep like that.

We learn what happened to Belle's mother and more to Belle and her family's backstory that they lived in Paris before moving to that village.
In the original Belle's father was an inventor on his way to the fair but in the remake he is an artist.
Instead of being an intruder of the beast's castle, Belle's father was imprisoned for stealing a rose.
There are other changes but that's part of the reason why I really loved the remake

I loved the rearrangement of the old songs and the choreography in Gaston's song but I think the backstory they added and the new songs were unnecessary.

The new one is way better than the 1991 and it's because I grew up watching the 1991 but I like the new one way better because of Emma Watson and Emma Thompson wear on Harry Potter

I don't think they humanized Gaston. He is a psychopath in the movie version
