This is your reminder that Snow White is not just a Disney movie. It is one of the, if not *the*, most traditional German fairytales. For me, it’s part of my cultural identity. Fairytales were stories passed down through generations. These tales are more than just entertainment, they carry the values, morals, and lessons.
Now, Disney is claiming that our stories are outdated and is altering them to fit their woke modern standards. But in doing so, they are changing a piece of our cultural heritage. This is our culture; these are our stories. When they are taken, modified, and presented in a way that distorts their original meaning, it feels like a form of cultural appropriation. Yet, because this concerns “white” culture, it seems to go unnoticed, or worse, unchallenged

The thing is, because this Rachel person has shown her attitude and mentality so clearly in her interviews, it will be very hard for the audience to ever see her as the sweet, demure, humble, kind-hearted character of Snow White. It will feel weird and fake when she tries to act out these characteristics in the movie, because we all know how distasteful and egotistical she actually is.

It's been over 20 years but honestly I don't remember Snow White waiting for a prince. I remember her being cast into the wild and making friends with people that were probably shunned by regular society. And I remember her making friends with all the animals and even welcoming the evil witch (which most people would shun). Snow White was already the perfect princess - she took negative situations and said how can I make this work in a positive way?
