Awesome, now I know the exact mathematical deficit that my crew creates when they flatly refuse to help raise under any circumstances 😅

As a vet HG player I can straight up say that raising back sail instead of front sail on a brig has wayyy more benefits than lifting front.

Ok he’s just flexing golden hour, AA sails and lord guardian sails now

PVP on a sloop u want to set the sail to 1/2 ish, for a a brig u want front sail up and back sail down or 1/2 ish depending, for a galleon you want mid sail up and maybe front up too eventually later on in the fight when their masts are down and u get close but always rear sail down unless u want to stop to finish with 4 gun broadside if they are immobile, this sail management is to optimize all ships for pvp to make them slow enough to turn faster but fast enough to push through the water so the waves won't affect your cannon aim as much, but not to fast to leap over the waves and affect your shots, also the pilot should be the only person to touch the rear sails on any ship in SoT so he can have final say in throttle management and keep the cannons in range and lined up or he can drop the sales and turn out if they are taking to much damage, and always raise mid and front sail first then rear last in that order on any ship in SoT

I love locking my friends into imaginary roles when we are all capable of doing what ever needs to be done when ever it needs to be done

For brig try back full raise while helm is turning and then front full raise. Then helm can half drop back once they are done turning. Faster angle.

this means that on a brig and gally it doesnt really matter if you raise one sail after another together or everyone raises one sail simultaneously. brig 2.2 + 2.2 + walking = 5, gally 3.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 + walking = 11 seconds

Based Lord Guardian sails. I got them too and they've gotta be my favorite sails in the game. I based the look of my first galleon around them.

The brig can be a controversial one and it is arguably better to have MC and flex raise back sail then both run up and raise front while helm turns wheel and eventually helm drops back sail to half way. Statistically this is a faster turn but realistically doesn't change much

It's worth noting it takes a very little amount of time to lower sails as well

Therefore, it's a better idea to have your sails raised a tad to lower the time it takes to raise them, and to give yourself more visibility for the captain

It's a common thing to trim midsail now, but as flex I'd trim front as well. It's a nominal speed loss, and results in tighter turning.

Plus, you can't always have 2 pirates for sails- better to keep your ship in a position that's easy to adjust as a solo.

I learned that the rudder stay the same direction the entire time so if you want to go straight move the wheel to it starting point (since that how the game set the wheel) if you are unsure the rudder is directly in the middle you could move abut more to hear that sound when you past that center point to the other side, if you don’t hear that then you are ethier on the far right or left. Also hopefully this makes sense
