♥️ your channel and other trappers for contributing your work for learning. FYI for those of you thinking this is a solution for food in the wild when you bend over a tree and leave it in a stuck position for a long period of time it doesn't snap back into place. Traps like these only work for a day or so. Go bend a tree tie it down wait a day and cut the line see for yourself.

I love the SAS survival handbook, I used to have an older edition I think, it didn't have a colorful cover, it was the best survival book I have read.

Man, this is hard core survival here...I have been in some tough scrapes over the years, but always been able to hunt for food rather than snare...although <GASP, TREMBLE> when I was young I fur trapped for a living...made pretty good bank, too, then the bottom fell out of the fur market...trapping is indiscriminate and should be looked at as a pure desperation gathering technique. Having said that, one must learn these type skills BEFORE one's life is dependent on them in a SHTF situation...learning curve is too steep to be learning and feeding one's self...just my $0.02...

Trim off the branches on the 'spring' tree to speed up the whip. Less drag.
I really like your vids.

I love your curiosity and confidence: You read about an idea and then try it out, whether you will actually need it in the future or not. Adding to your skillset and ingenuity.

I am currently wishing I could try making charcoal from scratch; have you ever done this? I've been reading about the usefulness of biochar production, and hope it catches on.

a great vid showing a basic spring snare👍the same mechanism can be used with a baited hook and sinker in the water to catch fish. the supple branch can both set the hook when the fish takes the bait and also plays the fish to prevent the line straining and snapping. the spring snare is also the only snare that could be realisticly used as a cord noose without the prey chewing through as it adds vertices tenting so the animal can't turn and chew the noose. these snares were used by old british poachers to catch pheasant. the catch would be suspended high off the ground from the reach of fox and badger.
