1 thing to keep in mind when you guys get these mics are that they work more effectively with 48V Phantom Power either via USB interface or a Phantom power device which are sold on Amazon or eBay. That's where the hiss and buzzing sound comes from because those USB sound cards only put out 5v or so which will cause the loud hiss or hum noise. I experienced this but I have the interface but the XLR cable was the problem with the hiss I was getting Make sure when using a USB interface use a decent quality cable. ALSO.. These mics are Condenser mics NOT dynamic mics when you do a review you have to know the difference. These are not to be used speaking into the top as you had it in your video but rather you speak from the front where the BM800 writing is labeled. Hope this helps someone reading.

I've been using a BM-800 for over a year now. I have it paired with a Neewer phantom power supply (power is required for this mic or you'll never get good sound out of it). It works perfectly fine for me. I have it on the arm reaching over my center monitor, and the mic sits about a foot to two feet away from my face. Before I got the power supply I basically had to eat the mic to get anything out of it, but after getting a phantom, it really brought the mic to life. It picks me up perfectly from that far.

I see it's been mentioned a lot in the comments, but yeah, correct positioning of the mic is a must.

this is a side address microphone, you don't talk into the top of it, you talk into the side of it. And you only talk into one of the sides as it has a cardiod polar pattern. This should hopefully make your voice sound a lot fuller, hope this helps!

A: You always want to run 48V phantom power on a condenser microphone that is designed for it - if you're not using phantom power, you're much better off using a dynamic mic designed to be run without the 48V powering it.

B: When using a cardioid condenser mic, you don't speak into the top of it like this guy did, because that's not where the sound is picked up from on this style of microphone; while that would be the correct way of speaking into most dynamic mics that have the ball-shaped screens on them, that is not the correct way to use this type of microphone.
You want to have the mic parallel to your face basically straight up and down or sideways stretching from ear to ear and facing it so you can read the label on the mic while using it. Speaking into the top of the microphone like he is in this video means that you are directing your voice at the side of the diaphragm instead of directly into the diaphragm and it will give you sub-par sound quality and a low volume, and it will introduce a lot of unnecessary noise since you'll have to turn it up louder than needed to get the voice volume you need and you'll pick up more background noise and hiss as a result.
Watch other videos of people who review audio equipment specifically and observe how they have their condenser mics positioned and you'll quickly understand how to properly use one if my description is unclear.

If you get a bm800 I recommend getting a phantom power source or a mixer. The straight audio from mic to pc is not good enough.

Mic facing is wrong. Not on the top. Its is on the side mid

Thanks for the review. Something I noticed is the noise floor on this mic is mega high. Picks up on way too much background noise for professional recording for musicians but seems like a decent choice for ppl who just need a cheap cardioid mic for video games, beginner podcasts and voiceovers for work.

microphone is side addressable so you talk into the side and you dont use both a wind screen and a pop filter at the same time its one or the other.
