The FX-8350 has been around for quite some time now, and finally we'll be able to get our hands on Ryzen. While we wait to see HOW MUCH better Ryzen is than FX-series chips, let's do an end-of-life test against the Intel Core i3-6100 and GTX 1060 6GB.

You should test both CPU with same GPU, its almost wortless test results.

Intel shines a little less now , because the I7 6900k 130 watts,  Rysen 7 1800x 95 watts .

FX is very much alive and it will be for one year or so, offering as budget friendly stuff from AMD.

Amd 8350 came out in 2011! Showing it can still compete with new cpu's!

Stupid comparison at this point in computing history if you ask me.

I disliked because your testing is straightup wrong. I like you, I usually like your videos, but you should've used an appropiate motherboard, with which you probably could've overclocked the 8350 to at least 4.5GHz and would've prevented throtteling making the FX-8350 perform a lot better.

why does he seem upset that the AMD system is doing better in DX12 stuff, its what game devs are moving to so that would make it more viable in the future right?

Damn the ryzen prices were even better than I expected, an 8C 16T processor for around R5000/$300.

UFDisciple I understand your point of view. But missing some points. What do you think is gonna happen to fx series when ryzen comes. I tell the fx series is gonna drop greatly. Two in games that use multiple cores the fx 8350 will perform massively better.

The i3 is cheaper and performs better but two cores is barely enough for games. And yes I know the hyperthreading helps. But a thread cannot completely replace a core. It will but it will still be working the i3 to the bone in newer titles. Where as the fx 8350 will get better with age. More and more games are taking advantage of more cores and this is where the 8350 shines.

Lastly I3 sucks at multitasking. The 8350 is great at multitasking.

Terrible motherboard, there is no way a FX 8-core did not throttle on that...

500 watts being drawn? How did you get that crazy assumption? Do you have a power meter to actually measure this?

Were you trying to sabotage thermals by pointing the CPU cooler straight down on the intel/nvidia build?

Tbh these benchmarks from what ive seen so far, for parts being that old for an amd processor and its still semi competitive is insane

Where I do agree that AM3+ should be shelved at this point I would really love to see what these numbers would look like (sans TDP) if you were actually able to OC the FX CPU.

Nice video. I agree buying an fx-series right now is not a good idea but if you r still running this processor with a decent card just like i am, its still a decent pc that can play most AAA games at med high settings.
Im running an fx8350 with an R9 390 and i can play all AAA games at high settings.

I just got an FX 8350 a week ago & it runs just fine. I did not overclock it has an AIO cooler & 12gbs of ram. I use this PC for streaming to twitch. It handles everything I throw at it like a dream. As for the GPU it's old as fuck, but I don't game on it so it's fine for now. It's an OC 5830 AMD card I got years ago.
