Did HBO just ruin House of the Dragon With The Cast Change?

Cast changes are sometimes necessary, but was it really needed in HBO’s House of the Dragon?

The sequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, has proved to be a stellar fantasy epic so far. The emphasis on the Targaryen lineage has worked wonders for a series that was, in its latter seasons, criticized for its lack of focus. Like many GoT fans, I’ve been enjoying the new direction in which House of the Dragon is heading – particularly after the bitter taste that GoT‘s Season 8 left me.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing for the Targaryens. Episode 6 marked a clear before and after for the show – one that could spell trouble for the series in the long run.

RUINED. Is anyone at HBO in charge? First they let the last two seasons of GoT happen, and now they allow a cast change of the two most important characters in the series? Have they not heard of MAKEUP in Hollywood? I mean seriously, how could someone in charge at HBO have OK'd having the face of the series (MILLY) REMOVED? It would have been like having Emilia Clarke replaced after a few seasons on GoT. Even if it was always the plan, after the HBO execs saw how awesome Milly Alcock was killing it, someone should have stepped in and said, HELL NO we ain't recasting her. RUINED!!!

After 1.5 seasons with the new actors I still don't buy it.
Terrible casting choices.

Millie Alcock's Rhanyra had cheeky mannerisms that are completely gone with D'arcy's portrayal.
D'arcy is also much larger as a woman, both wider and taller, with a completely different voice.

New Alicent has a 5head, is tanned, has crazy eyes and a mancunian accent.

I did not like this cast change! Hollywood will never reach its zenith again with series like GOT, Breaking Bad, Spartacus, True Blood, Dexter, Vikings, The last kingdom and Movies like Lord of the rings, The Marvel movies/collaborations, The Matrix, Terminator, Django, and so many more that captivated us and we counted the days to release dates...So sad the woke narrative, everything & everyone, must be equal except for the tyrant straight with men is ruining movies and worse America as a whole..smh

The older cast looked a lot like younger one.. I had no problem with cast change but rather than their personality change
Rhenera was a strong woman.. But in the start. Of episode 6.. She was squizing out children and going to queen on her command like a slave 🤦‍♀️

I kind of liked the young Rhaynera, it feels like a trick to get audience hooked with more attractive actress, then ditch her because they need to follow agenda of average women in casting

Not feeling the recasts at all. Especially the new Rhaenyra. She went from charasmatic and energetic, to bland and uninteresting.

it did not “ruin” it, it was logical. the dance of dragons took place over many years and the story needed to time skip in order to get rhaenyra to the age she needs to be when the actual war starts. milly is a great actor but she does not look old enough to have teenage sons and neither does emily. emma and olivia both give a mature and respected aura that the younger acts didn’t have. rhaenyra is more sure of herself and what is hers and alicent has gone full bitch mode. and it’s still extremely entertaining. i think people just have a prejudice against emma honestly and it’s not fair
