Should invite Yuval more on the show. That's one smart cookie that speaks with eloquence rarely see on TV.

Yuval is clearly the most intelligent person in the room

I’m actually shocked that Bill Maher doesn’t know, and vehemently denies any connection between Ancient Rome and China. Ever heard of The Silk Road??? There was global trade going back to at least the Bronze Age. Rome used to import goods from China, like silk and spices, and China used to import goods from Rome. In fact, we have the writings of Chinese envoys who were sent to Rome about their impressions.

Also, we know exactly what they used to eat in Ancient Rome through one of the most famous cookbooks ever written, De Re Coquinarium, by Apicius.

Fran Lebowitz sure does get a kick out of herself, doesn’t she?

Yuval was the LAST one of the panel to speak…that was not a coincidence! Smart people generally listen more than they speak!

Bill reading audience Q: “Do we ever learn lessons…" Fran “No”
I think I coughed up a demon laughing.

Well, about the first thing Bill said, OJ Simpson was found not guilty and we rightly didn't see him that way.

Fran and her regional prejudices. She is an exemplar of her class….

Fran only speaks in sound bites, with no real weight to what she’s saying.

Is Fran capable of a comment that is serious and not some left wing, nonsensical babbling? Every answer? It is tired.

Fran isn't really an academic intellectual; she's more a social satirist and good at it. But she doesn't really belong at this round-table.

“If this can happen there it can happen anywhere”

Yes. That’s how this works.

I'm not easily offended, even as a liberal, but I find it appalling that Lebowitz dismisses entire segments of America. This kind of elitist snobbery is exactly why liberalism has a bad reputation. Dismissing people like this is despised by the working class in places like Arizona and Tennessee, which is why many support Trump—because of behavior like this from liberals. It frustrates me deeply. We need everyone in America to come together.

EDIT: Yes, I know it’s part of her “schtick”. No hate to Fran, many people are guilty of this sort of banter. I just feel at the moment, each side needs to be extending an olive branch, rather than dismissing each other.

*Yuval Noah Harari:* 🤔
I'd never heard of this dude before... I'm now intrigued by his thoughtful replies to each question presented to them. Yuval rocked it. I shall go down the rabbit's hole 🕳 🐇 of his works. 👋🏼 Cheers from Cancún México. 💙🏝🍸🇲🇽

I can’t help but wonder if men now being more religious than women is coincidental or connected to men also now being more conservative and women becoming more liberal.

Does anyone else think that they dwelt too much on Fran's apparent distain for Arizona? Having been to Arizona myself, I disagree with her opinion on it, but I don't think they should have let it derail the conversation. They also went on too much about Roman food. Again, they devoted more of the conversation to that than its level of importance, and I appreciate Yuval bringing them back to what mattered.
