I think the regret Aurangzeb had was the result of the realisation he had after reading the zafarnama written by Guru Gobind Singh ji to him. The Zafarnama has such powerful words that he realised his wrong doings and contemplated them in his last days. That's why Zafarnama is also known as the letter of spirtiual victory. If I need to be corrected then pls guide.

Aurangzeb ' s death was due to powerful letter Zafarnama written to him by tenth sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji in which he made Auzangzeb realise his bad deeds like bricking alive Sahebzada Zorawar singh (at 9years) and Sahebzada Fateh singh (at age of 5 years ) . Aurangzeb became depressed after reading that letter and had other health issues like he wasnt able to urinate and living very torturous life . His daughter suggested him to read Waheguru ji ka khalsa and Waheguru ji ki fateh written at end of letter (Earlier he didnt read it beacause he didnt like sikh gurus and their ideologies ). When he said the fateh he passed away .
