Use iPhone to Control Apple TV and HomePod instead of Siri Remote

The new Siri Remote is great for controlling Apple TV, when I can find it. When I can't, the iPhone in my pocket can control Apple TV instead. However, it can't raise or lower the volume when my audio is going through my TV. So, I used HomePod to solve the problem. This video will demonstrate how.

You can use control over hdmi if your tv supports it and don’t forget to use 2.1 hdmi cable

You need to setup hdmi as volume control in the Apple Tv remote settings. That way you can use the app to control the tv volume. You may need hdmi 2.1 cables. My Apple TV HD and my Apple TV 4K (ver. 2) work properly. I’m having issues with my original Apple TV 4K, I think it’s the cable.

When the app is open, use your phone volume buttons to control volume.

99% of devices support volume control using the HDMI CEC protocol, so you should check your settings on both the tv, the Apple TV, and receiver.
