Oh, Louise, you and I are kindred spirits. "Instead of putting brush to paper, scrolling Instagram and shopping online for a bunch of supplies." .... "A bookshelf full of self help books." .... perfectionism paralysis. Yes, yes and yes. You are a GEM and I am so thankful to you for your insights and wisdom.

Wow, Louise. Your sharing is advice not only for art but for life in general. I see myself in so much of what you have said.

You are a lovely person, Louise. Thank you for willing to be vulnerable by sharing your own struggles to inspire others.

I often find myself doing things that are "more important " (including laundry 😮)than sitting and painting because I freeze up and can't seem to feel the joy I used to feel. I love watching your videos and I learn something from each one. I am fortunate in that I belong to a wonderful group of other watercolorists that push me. Thanks for THIS lesson ❤

You never fail to make me laugh at the end of a video. You are a kind, warm person to listen to. I've learned a lot from watching. Thank you for being you 🥰

I had no idea that my favourite artist also goes through the same struggles that a noob artist like me do. The part where you said regarding planning to do the perfect thing and not ending up doing it- I felt it. I'm guilty of all of these, and while I know that it takes time to improve, it's a daily struggle to make my brain actually realize. Thank you so much for sharing this with is, I feel seen.

My mum always said that you will fail by comparison, how right she was. Thank you for this, I am guilty of all these bad habits. Mindset is everything! ❤ p.s. beautiful geranium painting 😍

I have noticed it helps to have someone who is supportive but also understands art be my second set of eyes. We don't need yes people, we need knowledgeable, encouraging people (for me it's my brother). I don't take all of his tips/advice as our styles are different, but most of the time, he can name what's bothering me about a project without making me want to rip it all up. It's often too late to rescue it, but I feel better looking at a failure and knowing why it is one. 😂

Goodness me Louise, it’s like you reached into my mind and pulled out everything that crosses it. Thank you for the pragmatic and inspirational advice. While listening to you, I had a lightbulb moment where I actually felt the enthusiasm to dive into some painting, ready to fail or whatever, but to enjoy the process. Thank you again 😊

Yum Louise, that geranium is gorgeous. The gentle glazing is so soft.

Here I was, watching the beauty of your art unfold and listening to your words, and thinking about the people I know and care about who would benefit from them. Then you quoted Benjamin Franklin “You may delay, but time will not”!! Suddenly I realised I was the person you were talking to. I was the person who would benefit from your words and honest reflection.

Up to this point I’ve loved, but felt separate from artists I’ve watched on YT. Now I feel connected! Thank you.🥰

All so true. Everyone said watercolour way too hard. I thought just try hard. I am getting better. I enjoy your videos. Many thanks

One thing Ive learned ...if I have a failure, I do it again and again...that also helps me feel more confident once I master it. Compare my work to my work.

Yes, all of the above. I’ve been painting for about a year now in watercolour with no prior painting experience in any other medium and yet I expect to be like all of you stunning YouTubers 😂 Great advice. I’ve realised for a long time that you bring how you are in life to every single thing you do, so it’s worthwhile working on getting rid of those habits everywhere. BTW, when doubt stops you doing things to improve your business, remember it’s not just your physical paintings that you bring (and those are staggeringly beautiful) but also your Self and that also is beautiful. I find I have favourite artists that I love to watch and a large component of my enjoyment comes from their presence. Wonderful video and great tips 🙏
