Elements of a Map

Although they may seem complicated at first glance, any map worth using can be broken down into five basic elements. Today, we’re going to be taking a closer look at these five basics of modern mapmaking, so you can accurately use any standard map that you might come across, be it paper or electronic, or even in a foreign language. The one correction I would make is that a compass can be represented as not 4-8 points, but rather 1-16. One being just north and 16 including NNE, NE, ENE, etc.
