I live in South Florida, 2 hours south East of Orlando and I remember that Disney lagoon story VERY very well. All of us Floridians know the story well. As Floridians, the mere statement “the child was NEAR the lagoon” makes us cringe. When we hear “the child was in ankle deep water” it makes our hearts DROP!!!! This is a horrendous and tragic story. Rule of thumb for us Floridians… “every body of water has a gator in it.”

Alicia Cerreto, the lady in the last story, who jumped on the crocs back to save her son. She says "I'm no hero" But anyone willing to do that (Especially at her age) is indeed a hero.

That first story was really sad. Homeless and fighting cancer, desperate enough to swim through alligator infested water in the dark. Plus a terrifying and incredibly painful way to die being eaten alive. I hope Shawn has a better life now wherever he is.

The second story I remember. I live in Orlando. There are signs everywhere saying watch for gators. If there’s water there’s gators period. You don’t walk with small kids or dogs near the waters edge or your asking for it. Very sad story but people have to understand its just like the ocean. Its their territory not ours.

How the fuck does people still enter bodies of water in Florida? 🤦‍♂️

Saw a 20+ foot saltwater crocodile at Palawan Philippines, it was in a zoo, but not just a cage. You're literally above it, 2 feet from the surface of the water, separated by just planks of bamboo roughly 1.5 inches wide, the croc can be seen between the slats. It followed people walking above, and being that close, two feet from it, makes it absolutely huge and threatening. You can feel the infrasound it makes.

Unpopular opinion but the truth whether you want to hear it or not. The death of that two-year-old child at the Disneyland resort is a result of the parents. When I hear the state's Florida or Louisiana. The first thing that pops in my head is alligators. All bodies of water are off-limits including swimming pools. And that is my frame of mine as me being an adult. If my children decide they want to build sandcastles I have a 40 count of 16 oz of bottle of water in my trunk. You can build sandcastles 45 yds away from that water. I'm only preparing for the dangers that I know that lies ahead. If my two-year-old decided to throw a temper tantrum, so be it. You can tell me all about it on our way back to the room.

The second story, Disney really took the hit for this . These people paid no attention to all the signs that said stay out of water .... signs on buildings, everywhere there was signs . This dad was walking in the water at dusk with a child .

As a father and grandfather of 3 I can honestly say that I would dive into a lake to try and save one of them from a alligator attack. Such a sad story, that was a brave dad. RIP Lane. Thanks for the video!

I feel bad for Shawn but unfortunately he brought it upon himself. The Alligator s were just being Alligators. They should have been relocated deep in the Florida Everglades not killed or just left alone where they were at! People should know better

Imagine taking your kids to Disneyland for a good time and coming home without your toddler son I really feel for the parents, it's also good to hear that the poor little boy drowned quickly as drownings are supposed to feel peacefull, which is less gruesome than it could of been, glad he wasn't injured more as at least they had his little body intact to bury.... But still, wow ..really upset me this I lost my son when he was 14 yrs of natural causes... Can't imagine losing one as a little toddler though.

I just can’t imagine the shock and terror as a mom myself, watching your toddler be dragged under the water by an alligator, just knowing that would be the last time you ever see him.

I feel like Disney made a huge mistake creating a lagoon on their property that connects to another lake. They knew this park was mostly for children and many tourists aren’t fully aware of the dangers or Florida water. Removing 220 alligators from their man made lake after this incident is just devastating. They should have known the risk of having an open beach on this water with children. Definitely should have had better signage that told tourists it was alligator infested.
Yes Florida is home to many many different species of wildlife but not every tourist really knows the risks

When I was in kindergarten, I saw an alligator run on its hind legs. I've had an extremely healthy fear of them ever since. Those fuckers are fast!!!! I'm 47 and still remember the speed.

Its so incredibly sad what happened to Lane. It breaks my heart. Maybe im a softie, but as a father - I cant even begin to imagine experiencing this situation and witnessing my happy, excited, little toddler who is just ecstatic to be with their family and to experience their first vacation.
Man.

The most horrific pain I can possibly imagine watching my son get taken as a meal by an animal I can't even fathom.
