I don’t mind Vig’s production on Nevermind because Vig is a excellent producer that knows how to get a sound out of the equipment which becomes that polished sound
I can appreciate Albini’s production because it fits the album and that’s what Kurt wanted to hear which was a bare bones and raw album

Albini didn't get paid 2 million to record the album. He got paid a flat rate of 100 grand

This is the most upbeat that I ever saw Cobain look. Clean and responsive but still not giving up a kind comment without the sarcastic attitude he had. He even had on clean clothes.
All in all it's sad that he got the brown bug.

In utero and Pj Harvey's rid of me-represent that "albini" sound. Pure intensity on a sonic level.

$2 million dollars in 1993 was a nice chunk of change. Not so much now.

Alibini is kinda famous for not producing records, not taking points, just technically engineering the recording on a practical level.

In/utero... took 2 weeks to record, albini recieved 100, 000 dollars flat .... so it's odd to hear kurdt say 2 million, does that imply that there was a secondary daily fee of 110, 000 dollars a day? They are also paying or Steve was, ancillary staff, rent and board for the recording process ... for 3 people, plus maybe a tech or two, Courtney Love drops in ... for free? Still people I know have recorded an album there in 3 days for 30k ... So I'm going to guess it's a 10k a day studio, Steve may cost extra.

Nirvana enjoyed all the benefits of electrical audio, and despite being pure, they caved to the dgc corp and had several tracks remixed by another producer, Steve lily-white? When their label was worried there were no hits.

The 2 million number is odd though? Videos n promotions, still from a man who eats shotguns it's dubious at best.

"Too digital." If only Kurt was around to hear the trash that's recorded today.

The sound of music is 1000% more artificial and WORSE since this interview was made.

I still to this day record everything analog only mix digital, you can't get that warmth and huge sound recording everything digital it sounds too clean and sterile.

"...bullshit walks". Is that how Novoselic ended the sentence? Really hope so.

He may be Kurt frigging Cobain, but yawning while someone is asking you a question is quite simply bad manners. Did I really had this guy on a poster hanging on my bedroom wall when I was 20? Sometimes I think I oughta've listened to my mother more often; she knew something I didn't...

Krist the voice of reason. Kurt the perpetual child and Dave working up to bore us with the FF's. Albini really was brilliant even with his Midwest idealism shtick. He was a hell of an engineer. Just my likely misguided opinion.
