They have a great system, and they still test and improve it every series to change what can and can't be reviewed.

As a fan of American spots I will say that if this is implemented you will likely see less VAR intervention but have times where something that is called incorrectly not being rescinded due to fear of losing your only challenge. I say every goal should always be reviewed and have the 1 challenge only be applicable to non-goal related situations like red cards, corners or fouls.

American Football uses challenges and its great. 1 per half, if you fail the challenge you lose a timeout, succeed and the game can be changed. It's good, not sure how it will play out in world football though...

It's in basketball as well. But if you get it wrong, it uses up a timeout

afaik in tennis, you get a limited number of "challenges" per set, but if the umpire was wrong and you were right you get it back

It's already being used in sport called "Cricket" very popular in India with very similar to what you explain since more than a decade .... Can't believe it took this much time to make it to Popular game like Football

It's NFL challenges in football... Works there, but I'd like to avoid copying other sports

it's in cricket as well, we get 2 reviews per game for each team. and if the team who asked for review is right, then that review doesn't count and they'll still have 2 reviews and if they're wrong in the review they lose it. it's a great system to protect players in football from foul injuries and i think they should try it.

In hockey, you have unlimited challenges....but if you fail, you get a penalty

It works very Well in basketball so it should work in football
