Introducing New Default Skins!

Minecraft is getting seven new default skins – meet Makena, Efe, Noor, Kai, Ari, Sunny, and Zuri! Just like Steve and Alex, the new default skins will help you tell your Minecraft stories whether you are exploring the Overworld, heading into an SMP adventure, or creating the build of your dreams! The new default skins will be available when you launch Minecraft from November 29.

Given that in my 8 years of playing MC on servers and watching MC videos 99% of the players I see have got their own skin which is usually some animal or fantasy character, or a custom representation of themselves, I don't think this will be as impactful as perhaps Mojang thinks. It might be fun for new players and then give people a easier base to start from when they discover how to make a skin I suppose. Personally when I play a video game the last thing I want to look like is an old English guy :)

Personally, I think Steve and Alex will still be the main mascots of minecraft but it will be fun to see some fun side-characters Edit: now we hardly ever see alex and steve at all.

I really like this. Even though Steve and Alex are the staple placeholder characters of Minecraft, it really does feel like a new chapter for the game, a fresh one. We've went from Steve being alone, to him finding a friend, to now having a whole town of other people to mine and create with, just like how the community is. I'm really excited to see how Minecraft and players portray these characters in the stories they create.

One new feature is love to see in an update would be an overhaul of the jukebox. If you interact with it holding something other than a disk, an infterface opens up and you can make a playlist of all the songs that play in game. That way you can mix up the newer ones and the nostalgic classics.
