How do you create rich, smooth, buttery bokeh? You first have to start with a shallow depth of field, of course. Photographer David Flores provides 7 tips on how to effectively make photographs appealing by creating bokeh—an aesthetic that uses the blurry, out-of-focus portion of a photograph to channel your attention to the in-focus subject. Check it out!

1 - Create Distance: 0:22
2 - Wide Aperture 0:31
3 - Use the Right Lens 0:48
4 - Sensor Size 1:10
5 - Background 1:26
6 - Bokeh Time/Aperture Shape 2:00

Sensor size, distance and lens (focal length) doesnt really matter - its the magnification scale (dont know if its the right english Word) which is affected by these 3.

What is the lens mentioned around the 2:30ish mark? Whatever it is, yes, I'd like to learn more about it.

It's not really bokeh but you can blur backgrounds in post-processing as well.

Just looking for some advice here, I wanted to know how to achieve compression and bokeh on a full body subject whilst being close to the subject (no more than 2 metres away?) I’m using a 28 f1.8 but can’t get the look I want, I try shooting wide but too much of the subject is out of focus, saving for the 24-70 2.8 but not sure if it will solve this problem, I’m using the 6d and find focus difficult with 1 cross type af point to work with

Is there a filter that can be added to the front of a lens for the "Apodization" Lens effect?
