The most expensive thing for all pets tends to be food, and/or vet bills. Snakes eat way less frequently than cats or dogs, and tend to get less 'vet requiring' issues than cats or dogs... therefore they are way cheaper!

Love the timing of the video. I recently got snakes and other than the initial cost of snake and enclosure set up, I keep saying it’s not crazy expensive but no one will listen to me. They keep saying that it’s gonna cost me an arm and a leg to have two snakes ( Mexican black king snake and hognose. )

I have a frog, a snake, and a cat. The cat developed food allergies two years ago. Between vet bills, special diet, and everything else... I could probably get at least three more snakes 😅
Jokes aside, I cannot imagine not having that furry rascal around.

i bought my cornsnake from petco ( dont do this!! i didnt know! ) 14 years ago, and he's the best ever. if anything im glad that i got him because he had a respiratory infection i didnt know about and after some googling on how to help it go away, I got him fixed up pretty easily. i even bred him once and he had babies, and he's still doing very good after all these years. i've been trying to research what snake i want next and i would love to buy a green red-tailed ratsnake. but whew expensive lol

Right now the biggest thing stoping me from getting a snake is the upfront cost of an enclosure. Not sure wherenor how youbare finding 4x2x2 enclosures for $100, I've never seen one for sale used since I started looking. Been eying Ball Pythons for a couple months now.

After the cost of the snake, the enclosure and equipment all you are paying for is their food and as they only eat twice a month (when fully grown) keeping snakes is pretty affordable, lizards on the other hand cost a lot more due to having to constantly buy insects.

You should upload the video that says that you don't need to go to the vet, vetcare is expensive especially with reptiles it costs a few hundred dollars each year.

This video has come at the perfect time! I’m considering getting a ball python as my first snake (I already have a leopard gecko). I have been really trying to consider the costs before I do it, though, so this was very helpful!

I think for lizards and frogs not really a lot changes except the food and the enclosure sizes... other than setting the temp/humidity a tiny little different i could keep a ball python in my leachie enclosure... so turtles would definitely be interesting especially turtles that are semi aquatic turtles the enclosure price will go out pretty high i imagine
