As to why people ask "why didn't the bridge have adequate protection from such a catastrophic incident? "
America was awakened to a horrific accident over 40 years ago with the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa Florida.
I remember then president telling all Americans this type of tragedy will never be seen again. Federal laws and mandatory safety regulations were instilled. Was this tragedy preventable? Absolutely it was preventable if guidelines, protocall and mandatory safety regulations were followed. I'm guessing someone made the decision that profits are more important than the value of life to innocent workers.
I'd like to know who greenlighted the Dali as seaworthy for a 27 day voyage to SriLanka halfway around the globe without resolving it's electrical problems having at dock?
