Standard AM Radio vs AM HD Radio

AM Radio sounds like phone quality, AM HD sounds like FM radio. You could hear your local AM station in much better quality.

AM is 40 to 10 kHz, but many cars are up to 2.5 to 4

Better with worse quality, but hearing the AM station than listening to silence when the signal-to-noise ratio at the input of a digital receiver becomes worse than 20 dB.

While there IS a difference, please don't make people believe that ALL AM is limited to the bandwidth you posted on the screen or "phone quality" which you posted in your video. AM is allowed up to 10khz, for it's full sound, And, HD on AM creates noise on adjacent AM channels. AM ANALOG STEREO (C-Quam) is much better sounding and can be heard online for example at WION's page of www.i1430.com (or WION's feed on Tune-In Radio/I-Tunes/Google Play) where the stream is sourced by a real AM tuner, rendering REAL AM stereo over the air. HD on AM is being shut off lat many stations t due to licensing costs (it is proprietary) and the noise produced to neighbors on the dial. Analog AM, mono, or stereo, properly processed from a well-maintained air-chain sounds 100 percent better than either of the examples you gave. Stations paying attention to their quality of sound and broadcasting in their fully allowed bandwidth are much better in standard, analog AM than your video expresses, and can actually sound "hi-fi" if properly operated.

Pretty much it’s dead now, and AM is suffering. I would listen to an AM station on a streaming service, but they’re never simulcast the same program material. HD would’ve helped them stay relevant, but anyone under 50 years of age cannot stand that crap quality. No one under 50 years of age is listening to AM
