The older I get, the more I want to be alone.

Wow. I got this recommended 4 years later. It looks idyllic especially in this mad world in 2020.

This is perhaps the only livable place on Earth where my family wouldn't reach me to fuck up my existence. I'm game...

I'd love to live there; but my luck as soon as I moved there the volcano would blow up.

In 1969 inhabitants of this island were sent to Gough Island to help find my step brother and a friend who got lost in a snow storm. These guys were brilliant but unfortunately their help was solicited too late, and they eventually found the bodies of the two men.

i have lived on a remote island, called adak, Alaska. most did well there, but others could not deal with the distances to anywhere and anything. alcoholism was rampant with a small part of the population, and the view could kill you with hypothermia or falling off a cliff, but i would go back in a heart beat

An old friend of mine was named Tristan because he was born on a ship near Tristan da Cunha. Tristan Jones later became a sailor who traveled all over the world in small sailboats and later, as an author, Tristan wrote a dozen or so best-selling books about his many unique experiences.

since they had a volcano than they must have ash, ash is the best thing for the garden as fertalizer.

Note they (British Empire) didn't have to fight too hard to keep this one.

I grew up on an Orchard from a tiny kid to 8. Than 8 to 14 I lived on a ranch and from there I grew up on Hawaii with gardens. So this would be pretty much a home to me. I like it.

I would love to live there except for the fact that I have extreme fear of talking to volleyballs

It looks like a paradise to live in. No pulution, no mass transit, just walk perhaps, and peaceful unless you’re one of the most outgoing person or most modern person who can’t live without the sophistications in the modern world.

It's Tristão da Cunha! It's a portuguese name with a lot of history behind it.

I am already committed to moving to another island in 2020, to live permanently.
I do wish I could visit for a few months and try to introduce permaculture and natural building to the folks of Tristan De Cunha.

I wish you all the best. If funding is available for a short stay - 2 months? - then I am a passport away!
