We used to visit this beautiful island in the sixties when I was in the Royal navy. After the evacuation due to the volcanic eruption, it was some years before the islanders were returned to their homes. Again, the Royal navy kept on visiting, providing medical support. Our doctor worked tirelessly for the time we were there. It can be extremely difficult to land by boat due to the extreme weather prevalent. My last time there was in 1971 when it was unusually calm and we were able to land our football team. We played on a very sloping pitch against a team of very fit and strong islanders. We were lucky to draw 1 all. I scored the equalizer. The ship was gifted with a large supply of Atlantic crayfish and we feasted for days on this gorgeous treat. In 1968 we visited Pitcairn. It was too rough to land but their Island headman came out to our ship. His name was Christian, a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian. Both Captain Bligh and Fletcher lived on the Isle of Man, as do I. You can still see the house where Fletcher lived in Dalby glen, a beauty spot in the west of the island.

I know he's also talking about St Helena, but I don't think he should be casually showing pictures of St Helena (e.g. 00:51, 4:50, 7:09) when he's talking about Tristan Da Chuna. Also, what about the helicopter at 01:00? It says on it "Faroe Island" 😄

I can't believe the way this guy pronounces archipelago. It's insane.

on one side WOW, i would love to go see this place. However, if I grew up there, and it was the same view day in and day out, non stop rain, same people, an nothing but water for as far as I can see.. I would be clawing , stowing away on a ship to get way out of there. That place has to be mind numbing

Lovely place to visit, Such a treasure place to live, that's why Britain and French are 'collecting' the secluded, beautiful islands across the world to inhabited in it, it's a treasure.

some of the footage you show is exactly the same as footage I have seen in a BBC documentary about the island, do you have the required copyright permissions to use it?!

Somehow i believe this is a place where there might be an hidden UFO base of extra-terrestrial either on the island or at the bottom of the sea.

Butchering the pronunciation of the island's name and the word archipelago in the first 20 seconds is enough for me to bail, thumbs down, and comment negatively on this video. I'm out!

I read on their website just now that they have Starlink and it runs at about 300 megabytes since 2024.
