Try it with chicken stock (I make mine with better than bouillon) instead of hot water!! It elevates the taste!’

In Korea we prefer to eat savory oats than sweet ones because we subtitute it for rice. The most common recipe is tuna and egg oat porridge. You can also add some seaweed in it🤤 i know it may sound gross for those who don't eat seaweed but it's actually so good! You should try that too. In my opinion savory oats are so much better than sweet ones!!

Yes, i love savory oats as well! Sometimes if i am on the go i get my ramen seasoning stash and some oats for later.

I made it and it was very tasty!

I used canned salmon instead of canned Tuna and added some spinach. It's pretty customizable and the ratio of oats to fish is pretty flexible.

The only thing I would change is that I'd add less light soy sauce since it's already pretty salty. I'm excited for the next episodes of this series! 👍

For non-gram folks, here's the full recipe with volumetric conversions:

Ingredients
160 g tuna, drained
½ cup / 80 g kimchi, cut with scissors into small pieces
½ cup / 45 g uncooked oats
1 tsp / 5 g sesame oil
2-3 tsp / 15 g soy sauce
0.6 cup / 150 g boiled water

Garnish:
Sesame oil, to taste
Sprinkle of green onion
Sprinkle of furikake

Directions
In a regular/large container, add drained tuna and kimchi; separate to cut up the kimchi (into small pieces) more easily with scissors
Mix tuna and kimchi, then add the rest of the ingredients and boiled water.
Microwave for 1.5 minutes, mix, then microwave for another 1.5 minutes.
Garnish with sesame oil, green onion, furikake

I tried it today. It was pretty good. I would recommend not using quick oats, and suggest going for steel cut oats if you have the time. The texture is much better

Made these oats today for the first time and they were so dang tasty, don't know how people can hate on this recipe for real. I don't think you've missed on any of the recipes you've posted!

I literally made savory oats for my meal prep this week based on a Pinterest recipe I saw! Mushrooms, chicken, kimchi, soy sauce, garlic and miso. good 🎉 pop off king!!

I feel validated now, back when I was struggling I would use oats as a base for anything I had on hand and tbh it was really good most of the time. Now that I’m doing better I still eat them in the morning when I don’t feel like proats or sweet oatmeal.

This is the tastiest savoury oats i’ve had yet and i did not even include sesame oil or soy sauce! Used 10g of miso instead and found it already flavourful enough with the kimchi too.

Thanks for helping me find my lunch for the next few days!

im on a cut and like a month ago i wanted tteokbokki so badly, so i made a low calorie soup base (sauce?) and cooked oats in that. immediate banger and highly recommended especially with eggs on top

Yep i did this exact thing wheni first saw your video on savoury oats and was kinda blown away by how good it was. Its basically 김치죽 but with oats instead of rice

Savoury oats are amazing. I love the combo of oats lean ground beef, carrots and tomatos. Of course i season the oats too but with some basic things like salt, pepper, Paprika and some herbs. If i feel extra i top the bowl with a fried egg :)

"Some bukake" 😂

Luckily oats are so versatile with plain ones. Gonna try this one out!

I’ve been doing this for a while and damn. It’s the best. I do mine with one fried egg, season with garlic powder & poultry seasoning. Chop some green onions, tuna and finish off with furikake and sriracha Mayo :)))
