For Chinese NY, fruit in a box is a super common gift to give when you're visiting someone lol. And apples are considered a lucky fruit.

Generally apples that stay white for a longer period of time have less iron in them because iron in apples turns brown-ish when oxidized

I remember having some of those apples, usually after a week or so normal apples(Fuji, or Gala) get mushy . But after weeks of watching them those damn apples seemed as pristine as ever. They also tasted pretty good with how crunchy and tart they were. Another good apple I think are Jazz apples which have a more mellow flavor but still tasty. But honestly I’m not a good judge with apples. Coming from the fact that I think the mushy applesauce ones taste good.

They sell these at our local Costco without the fancy packaging but honestly their organic apples 🍎 hit home for me. It reminds me of my childhood in India, where fruit doesn’t taste like white paper

You should start reviewing various super expensive asian fruits, Japan, Korea and China routinely develop rare and special fruit varieties but they can really hurt the wallet.

If you want the TRUE ultimate apple experience, go to an actual orchard (if there’s one near you). A good, fresh apple is perhaps the single best tasting singular plant to ever grace this earth with a mouth feel to match. Farmer’s market would be a fairly close second but either is highly recommended.

I live in the city where we pack and ship out most of the world’s apples, including these Envy ones (it’s in WA state). Envy apples are really good, my second favorite to honeycrisp. My third favorite is Tango apples (another newer variety that’s like a honeycrisp but more fruity and tangy in flavor)
