COVID -19 spreads homeless encampments down the boardwalk
As we try to navigate through the new normalcy due to COVID-19. More and more people are becoming homeless. It’s ever so evident on Venice Beach. Visually the beach has taken a dramatic new appearance. More and more encampments have appeared along the sidewalks and along the boardwalk. It’s really sad to see but where else could they go?

People who have money just "giving" it to the homeless will do nothing to help this problem. It is a mental health and addiction crisis that has been building in Cali for decades. This is the fault of the politicians who have pandered and gotten elected on ending this crisis, and done nothing to actually help the problem.

This makes me sad. I grew up here and spent all my time in venice beach back in the 80s skating, hanging out and tanning in the sun. I raised my kids taking them there all year round. Venice was fun then. I wont dare bring my grandchildren. I would not feel safe there anymore. The place is a dump now. I get that the homeless need somewhere to live. No one should have to live like this but it's just so sad all the way around. I'm just glad I got to experience venice beach when it was good, the people were fun and interesting which was part of the charm and everyone came from many places just to get to enjoy it for themselves. People from all walks of life. RIP to the good old days☹
