Both.
Bulk, range ammo goes loose. High end precision stuff stays in boxes.

Loose ammo feels like it lasts longer at the range

Boxed for storing, loose for range days

I used to store my ammo loose and it would always rip itself apart from the bullets rubbing on eachother. Eventually i had to stop storing my ammo cans in running dryers, active cement mixers and car rollover simulators. Its not ideal but ever since i started storing them in a closet they have been fine loose.

Loose ammo for range purpose, keep in boxes if you’re planning to bulk

you can fit twice as many if you keep it loose

Boxed. In the situation you have some bad rounds, the box they came out of has a batch number so you can report it to the manufacturer.
Also if the rounds in a box have the plastic holder, then using one of the speed loaders works way better to load up the speed loader.

I prefer loose, and I always keep those salica gel packets you get in like everything, and toss a handful in each ammo box, just to be on the safe side

To be honest, for me, boxed, it feels so satisfying opening a new one to load a mag.

Boxed is best for long-term storage, as the bullets don't wear down on each other from contact.

Loose is best for short-term storage, as you can easily grab a fistful and load them into a magazine.

Asthetically speaking, i like boxed better, but there's something satisfying about putting your hand in a box of loose ammunition.

Similar feeling as putting hand in the shiny rocks at a gift shop, or ash, or a bunch of dry macaroni.

I keep my pistol rounds loose and my long range Rifle rounds boxed. For the AR candy I keep those in 30 round dispensers. Kinda like grown up Pez

I keep my ammo boxed until I shoot a few boxes or I've waited a few months in case of a recall. If you take boxed ammo to the range, it's easier to keep track of how much you're shooting. Nothing like burning through 1, 000 rounds accidentally and having to restock 😮

I mainly keep my ammo boxed now because I also keep over a hundred rifle magazines and over 50 pistol magazines loaded in ammo cans ready not including what's on belts, chest rigs, plate carriers, mag pouches, backpacks and what's in my actual rifles and pistols.

Both like this. If you ever need to sell or barter some it makes it easy. But also loose clearly fits 3x more.

Loose, because cardboard absorbs moisture. keep that ammo dry

Boxed for bulk trading and ready-made go bags, loose for smaller scale trades and reloading

I lined the box with light rubber. But loose makes for faster mag loads during range day and holds much more loose.
