Samurai historically didn't fight with their katana all the time they fought with spear and bow. The katana was like a last resort

Templar knight. Katanas arent designed for use against heavy plate.

Samurai would die badly. This is not an anime but real life. The katana would do nothing against the knight armour. On that simple fact it's a one way fight.

if your young and a samurai fan, you choose samurai.
if your old and a samurai fan for so long you realized knight wins if they fight.
height advantage to knight
armor to knight
strength to knight
sword to knight
overall knight wins.

Here’s my take on it:
Shintoism and Buddhism do not have restrictions towards violence like Christianity has. Templar knights were chosen from the military, Samurai were trained since they could walk. The Japanese longbow has more range and is faster to reload than the English crossbow. The English longsword is a double edged sword that is equally good at cutting and thrusting. The Japanese katana is incredible at cuts and slashes, but is slightly less so at thrusting. The metal armor of the Templar Knights are superior to Samurai’s leather armor, because of this, Samurai would have more agility and freedom of movement than the clunkier but more protective armor of the Templar Knights. You guys decide who wins!

I think fiction really overplays the power of a Katana. The sword is only good if your enemy is wearing light armor and is using a Katana as well. During the Mongol Invasion, its been stated that the Katanas literally shattered while striking the Mongolian Armor because it was way to fragile.

The Knights Templar was also a master swordsman and was the elite warrior of there time. I would say the Knights Templar would come out on top. It a tought choice and tbh it depends on the two warriors on the day.

Samurai, easy.
Speed, agility, intelligence, and a Katana can cut through anything that's made of flesh, so a samurai easily wins.

PLATE ARMOR SON!!! IT HARDENS IN RESPONSE TO FRAIL STEEL!!! YOU CAN'T HURT ME, SAMURAI!!!😈😈😈

Western armor did made it's way to japan during the waring state with proven superiority in battles.

I’d say the samurai because of maneuverability . But if the crossbow is loaded he’s pretty much dead .

i think that samurai would win, because the templar knight (1100s) was armed with a helmet, chainmail, some padding, and a spear and shield, while the samurai would have simple plate armor, a spear or bow, MAYBE a shield i dont know, and some chainmail. a spear could MAYBE pierce the plate, but a bow could EASILY beat chainmail.

Templar knight for one he was a lot larger and steonger. The katana is over rated.

The. Knight stand over a feet taller then the Japanese at the time, and much stronger with superior armor. The little man don't stand a chance. 😏

The Templar, Katanas, weren't meant to combat enemies in full plate armor, which is highly resistant to slashing attacks and stabbing is only effective if landed in the joints but the Katana isn't a great stabbing weapon. European longswords, while they aren't as sharp, are far more versatile from slashing with the edges, stabbing with the tip, or even grabbing it by the blade to bludgeon with the cross guard.
