Timber Frame - Tuning Up a Post and Beam Boring Machine from Old Sneelock's Workshop

Much like the corn sheller, I have searched for a beam boring machine. Last week I found one that thankfully was in much better shape than the corn sheller was. A little oil and a couple of washers and it is good as new. It came with a 2" auger bit that needed sharpening and the pilot screw was very dull. In another video I'll explain how I tuned up the pilot screw on the bit.

Great find, I have one just like that. You have to love the old technology, unlike todays tools these actually work and will work for hundreds of years if cared for.

No problem. I'll work on that one for next week.

Nice! I passed one of these up last summer and it was only 30.00 bucks...I'm kicking myself. Can you show it boaring a hole? I have never seen one working.

I seem to have an interest bordering on obsession. :-)

There are a lot of Swan Drilling Machines around. They must be pretty rugged to have survived all these years.

ok, but you dind't show yourself using it for its intended purpose at the end, which is why you're tuning it, no?
