Hi GPC, my first post, finally, after going through the last 35 or so videos in this playlist. Dealing with these twisted timbers has been educational. Thanks haven’t started my own build yet, but hope to in the next month. Tracking it all on my own small channel in Japan. I’m going to enjoy the next 50 episodes, I’m sure. Thanks for sharing.

As a long time aspiring craftsman and wood worker who got off track with a doctorate degree and a professional career I am in absolute awe of the scope and depth of your skills and craftsmanship. Almost 55 years ago I was privileged to have the opportunity to work one summer as a laborer to an old time Millwright while he did restoration work on a late 19th Century oak crib 10 story grain elevator in Colorado that had been fire damaged. This project of yours and the adroit cleverness of your problem solving brings me back to that time. I am encouraged to see a revived respect and interest in the utility and beauty of real classic craftsmanship and especially timber frame design and construction. God bless you.

Hey Tim, nice to see that you're strategy to deal with the twisted rafter plates worked out for you. I can really appreciate the quality craftsmanship you're putting into your work. Beautiful view from up there. Nice work getting those big ones in place.

It's amazing how tall these buildings get. Glad to hear you're having fun learning. Me too. That's one of many reasons why I watch. Thanks Tim. -Will

Wat to go! It looks like you got that top plate made from that pretzel of a beam. Now you can get some appreciation for what Noah might have gone through while building his Ark. LOL It's looking good, take your time and be safe. Thanks again for sharing the experience. John

Great progress. My shop teacher told us to always lay a hand plane on the side to protect the blade edge. Am looking forward to the rafters. That always gives the building shape. God Speed

I was anxiously waiting and then caught the update late. Everything is looking great! Thank you for the update. Oh, and I got a bit concerned when you barely tapped the brace in and the got down turning your back on it. But everything worked out great!

Great looking building. Your joints look great. Is it a 16x24 building?

Do you sharpen your own hand saws? Rip saws are fun to file. Oh yeah a hint of the white frozen stuff, we are just back filling a foundation, trying to get the first floor stick framed before our first bit of snow, it will be in the teens tonight. Framing for it this winter in my shop. A word of caution at the 9:20 mark you walked away from that brace and it can easily fall our at that point, I've been there. Once you get the mortice and tenon well in with plate settled it won't come out, though. I tie them in with a bit of rope just as security, it cheap insurance, a clove hitch and a half hitch. I love what a snapped line does for a twisted wonky timber.

Are you building trusses or a rafter system? Not sure if that is the correct question to ask. Michael
