Mario Party 3 is a unique entry in the Mario Party series. It was typically overlooked since it came out so close to the release of the Gamecube, and it sold fewer copies than Mario Party 1 and 2. However, Mario Party 3 has some really great ideas and a unique personality of its own. So, join me today on Mark's Rec Room for an in-depth Mario Party 3 review and retrospective. In this video, mark haha will be ranking the Mario Party 3 minigames, reviewing the Mario Party 3 boards thoroughly, and even discussing the duel mode and items in great detail. If you are interested in a comprehensive Mario Party series review, I will be taking a critical look at all of the Mario Party games in this series. From N64 Mario Party to Gamecube Mario Party to even Mario Party DS and Mario Party Superstars, this retrospective series will have it all, so definitely subscribe to keep up with it! Mario Party 4 review coming soon. :) If you get this far in the description, leave a comment telling me what your favorite Mario Party 3 minigame is.

Mario Party 3 Duel Mode Tier List Reasoning:
Generally, these tier lists kind of coincide with one another. Basically, characters that have a low cost and good stats or a helpful perk will be the most valuable, especially early on. Losing your partners is really devastating, so low-cost partners are definitely ideal unless if you have a lot of money. Toad and Boo are the best in my opinion because Toad is cheap and can prevent you from losing money, while Boo has good stats and has the chance to counter-attack, which can be clutch. Koopa & Goomba have good stats for their cost, and Piranha Plant has great attack and good perks but is a little too expensive. B Tier is filled with characters who have helpful stats but are a little too expensive. C Tier features Baby Bowser and Bob-Omb, two characters with far too many drawbacks to be good and D Tier features the partners who do not damage your opponent at all, which is garbage. The character tier list shouldn't be too surprising given my partner tier list - the only outliers are Yoshi and Waluigi. Yoshi gets knocked down a tier because while Boo is a great partner, they're a little expensive in the early game. Waluigi has a similar problem with Piranha Plant, it is just too expensive and puts you in a position to lose all of your money too fast. If you're reading this, thank you for taking the time - I didn't want to overwhelm the video's pacing by getting too into the weeds with this tier list for a side mode, but I also didn't want to leave it without explaining my reasoning at all. Let me know who your main is for Mario Party 3 Duel Mode in the comments if you actually read all of this lol.

The quicksand in spiny dessert is meant to incentivize you to use mushrooms in order to quickly get across the happening spaces. It may be kinda annoying, but the board is set up so you almost always have a mushroom available to use when you need to. The mechanic isn’t really annoying because the game gives you multiple opportunities to circumvent it

this channel is so criminally underrated. You have great content, great production value and even an identifiable brand (those red thumbnails look cool as hell) the algorithm is failing you, my friend, I hope you get the boost you deserve one of these days

Mario Party 3 always holds a special place in my heart. This is the game where Princess Daisy became a playable character, and she has been my main in any Mario game ever since

The Beat Goes On was literally my favourite minigame as a kid 😭 My friends and I would play it over and over again and it was always so intense. The music, atmosphere, and lack of music adding to the suspense of each turn, had us all on the edge of our seats. The shy guys burning whoever messes up was great too. Also its funny that the fact that it goes on too long is actually another reason why I loved it

I remember the first time I played Mario Party 3 was at a hotel back when they had those Lodgenet machines with N64 controllers. That was the thing that made me want an N64 for myself way back when since I only had a Gamecube and Wii at the time and was starting to get more interested in retro gaming. And so on I believe it was my 10th or 11th birthday, I got my own N64 with Mario Party 3 and a bunch of other games and cherished all of them. With the original Mario Party trilogy, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., Pokémon Stadium, Cruis'n USA, and many other games, the N64 quickly became one of my favorite consoles for retro gaming.

On the topic of Mario Party 3 itself, while it's not my favorite in the series, I'd argue it was the most well rounded one and definitely the best of the N64 games. There weren't any bizarre gimmicks to mess up the formula. It was as pure of a Mario Party experience you could get. While the boards weren't as good as 2's was, there were still some really solid ones with my personal favorite being Woody Woods. I love its cozy atmosphere, and the arrow flipping gimmick creates an interesting dynamic when it comes to movement. Plus, the music is my favorite out of any board from the entire series. It's a little sad that Superstars only brought back ONE MP3 board, but if we HAD to pick one, I'm not gonna argue with Woody Woods. As for my favorite minigame, I agree on Eatsa Pizza. Not only is the concept of eating a giant pizza great on its own since it gives into one of our many simple pleasures as man, but the weird movement makes it a good challenge to try and eat the whole thing. This was also the first entry to have a story mode, and while it's nothing special, I appreciate that there were more single player oriented options beyond just minigame campaigns. And on top of that, they finally ditched the weird voices for Luigi, Peach, and Wario, and gave them the voices we know and love today. Yoshi was still in his weird phase, though. If you ask me, this is about as good of a core Mario Party experience you could get.

With regards to Duel Mode: I get there's a lot you need to know (like the stats and such of partners) but the moment you know what they can all do I feel that it can really be fun...it's like the later Star Steal mechanic type of board but with a bit more complexity and uses Mario species as partners which is IMO great if you are a Mario RPG fan like me.

I saw a Let's play of this game like 6 years ago and to this day I can remember the soundtrack very well. It's kinda nostalgic as if I played it when I was a child :D

I'm a little late to the party 👀, but I also have some of my best Mario Party memories with MP3. The inclusion of two legendary new characters, the awesome minigames, and personally, yeah, duel mode was a mess ... but a fun one. Added so much personality and individuality to the characters by giving them their own partners at the start. Overall, it's one of my ultimate favorite Mario Party's alongside Mario Party 7.

Not popular at first but among the Mario Party fans it's a cult classic now-a-days, easily in most peoples top 3 (hah). Certainly is for me with the amount of new content and good games and fun wacky shenanigans.

I can't wait for the Mario Party 7 character items tier list lool Mario Party 3 is a game we played a lot in my childhood but we lost the cart somehow 😭 but my best memories are playing Chilly Waters and jumping over the snowballs. I think Snowball Summit is my favorite minigame, I love it alot in Superstars

It was interesting hearing someone's thoughts on all the mini games because there were ones that were hated that I love and vice versa.

I also feel this video was a little harsh on duel mode. I loved duel mode as a kid. Now that I'm older I find it a little easy but I still really like it.

MP3 has always been the one I know the least about, and wow that duel mode is a LOT to take in for my first time learning about it! Still, having such a robust and fully realized game mode outside of the normal party mode is kinda crazy. Almost like it was a prototype for a whole other game, but I know that's not the case.

You have no idea how many times I’ve been utterly screwed over in this game.
