Mario Party 2 is commonly cited as the best Mario Party game. It's the second most popular favorite according to Mario Party Superstars, and is the only console Mario Party game to ever get a rerelease on both the Wii and Wii U Virtual Console services. However, in today's episode of Mark's Rec Room, we'll take an in-depth and critical look at Mario Party 2. In this video, we'll talk about the items, the new mechanics, and review all of the Mario Party 2 boards from worst to best. We also rank all Mario Party 2 minigames and do some math to figure out how Mario Party 2 stacks up against the rest of the series. Mario Party 2 is one of 3 Mario Party N64 games, but do N64 party games hold up? Thanks so much for watching. If you've read this far in the description, please comment your favorite Mario Party 2 minigame. Mario Party 3 video coming soon :)

Mario Party 2 really hits different. The costume gimmick/theming is such a fun thing to spice up each world. And the winner of the game being able to fight against bowser in the ending cutscene is so much better than just being "the superstar."

Great video - Your insight into these games is valuable.

THIS is how you do a sequel. Aside from the selectable items from the first game, I can't think of anything else 1 does better than 2. While it's disappointing to have less boards now and six would become the standard from this point on, the quality is so much higher that the quantity really doesn't matter. I'm honestly stunned you never brought up the costumes as they were such a cute and fun idea that I'm surprised they never did again. It gave each board so much more personality and style, especially with the ending cutscenes. Speaking of the boards, my favorite is Western Land since I adore that type of aesthetic and there's a lot of junctions to move around in so you have tons of control. As for my favorite minigame, it's still Shy Guy Says, and I find being shot out of the sky way more amusing than being sent off into the ocean. Hexagon Heat is way more aesthetically interesting than Mushroom Mix-Up in my eyes too. I don't really mind that they brought back so many minigames from 1 since they are some of the most iconic in the series, and 2 allows them to shine so much brighter in a game that doesn't have nearly as many brown spots. That said, if I had to pick a MP2 original minigame, I'd probably say either Shock Drop or Roll or Speed Hockey for their frantic pacing.

Another incredible video! I don't think I've played this one, but I'd love to play it at some point. While Mario Party Superstars includes some of the minigames and a couple of the boards, I'd love to experience the full, original game. Especially in those cute costumes!

12:18 made me chuckle from experience. XD

I like MP2, but not to the extent of everyone else, theres something about it that makes it "good but not the most replayable" for me that MP3 has in my opinion

By far 2 is the best for n64 and 4 for gamecube

Fun fact Sneak N' Snore expects you to move slower and when you do you do go into your barrel in a speed that feels reactable. That's to make you not go max speed the whole time and why the timer is so high. Don't like it though even with that information haha.

This entry is honestly my least favourite of the N64 ones. It's not nearly as chaotic as MP1, and almost everything it does better than MP1, MP3 does even better.
