We’ve been hearing that skinny jeans are out for 2 years now. Some millennial announced that the side part and skinny jean were out…. And apparently nobody listened. What we boomer’s understand is fashion is never a, “this OR that” truly fashionable women know that fashion is always, “this AND that” so I will add some other options, but will always default to what compliments my body best.

I’ll be sticking to skinny jeans for one reason: they look best on me. I dress to flatter my particular body - which is petite. I also prefer classic dressing vs trendy. I really don’t care too much about trends. I do enjoy your channel - you cover all of the important topics for we women of a certain age! Looking forward to the next one.

The way I see it is: Most important thing, when it comes to fashion is: 1. Wear what you personally love. 2. Dress in accordance to your body type. As for trends, buy as few trendy items as possible - these items must be something that compliments your style and your existing wardrobe. Stay away from those baggy pants. They don’t look good on anyone, not even on the models... Well, that is my opinion.

Recently, several, over 50 yr. old, YouTubers have said that skinny jeans are not really out, just because the millennials said they were! I'm in my 70's and have never been a fan of leggings, so if you have knee-high boots, I think skinny jeans are really the only thing to wear with them if you're wearing midi or maxi skirts or dresses. Ladies, wear what looks good on you! I think extremely baggy jeans are going to be not popular with our age group. I do like straight legs and I'm liking cargo pants that are a little loose, but with my petite frame, anything too big baggy is not flattering.

While the stylists are trying hard to convince everyone that the wide, baggy-legged pants and jeans, high water pants, baggy sweaters with horizontal stripes plus the oversize coats and blazers are in, sorry it is a losing battle. We went through those garments and there was a reason women threw them out of their wardrobes. They did nothing to improve our sense of self confidence or make us feel like we looked ready to face the day. If the runway models look sad and awkward in them, what chance to the rest of us have of being able to step out our front door and look polished and ready. I am sticking to what I know works. I will be waiting to buy new clothes when the designers and companies come back to their senses and stop trying to make women look like shapeless feed sacks!

I’ve been loving my wide legged jeans. Initially when I was in the changing room looking at them in the mirror, I couldn’t deny that they had something. It was the “fun” element you mentioned. On a whim, I bought them and now they are the most loved and most worn jeans.

To be honest, I only wear skinny jeans with knee hi boots and long sweaters in the winter. They do serve a good purpose that way, even for us mature ladies! Also, I did the dive into wide legged jeans last year….not bad. Definitely feel like I am back in high school, though!

I think it’s wise to have all these silhouettes of denim in your closet. New and old ( just no more low rise for me). I’ve been loving the barrel cut jean and pants lately.
