I love that Dune really builds up all the man-power and strength and honour of Atreides and then slaps you in your face showing you that real war isn't an honorable affair or chivalrous, its just artillery bombing helpless soldiers on the ground, destroying the entire airstrip, all the supply depots, its just about getting the upper hand and using it till every person is gone.

The ornithopter really sells the explosions here. It’s obviously a CGI fest in this scene but having such realistic reflections on the ships lends it this otherworldly credibility. Masterful!

For those wondering, in the book the Harkonnens don’t use these weapons, instead they use artillery cannons which they have situated in high ground
