I tried castor oil when I was pregnant and all it gave me was explosive diarrhea. But I did walk about 4 miles and went into labor that night.

I cringe so hard every time I see moms telling expectant moms to take the damn oil 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ how tf are people still doing this.

dates and raspberry leaf tea aren't meant to bring on labour, they are just super foods, as far as I know they are meant to help strengthen your uterus and ripen your cervix and such so that WHEN you go into labour your contractions are more efficient. Also dates are a good superfood to aid in your body recovering from birth.

When you said "dates", i thought you meant romantic ones... I was like "huh, that's a weird myth... how would that even work?"

There’s an actual study that shows a correlation between eating dates and a shorter first stage of labor. I have the study if anyone is interested.

Not y'all in the comments with your Facebook degrees STILL talking like you know more than a doctor, ob/gyn 😂😭.

There are actually some studies about the effect of dates on breaking our bodies resistance to the action of oxytocin on our bodies during labor. It makes dilation happen much faster, since contractions get consistent (Something like that). It also softens the uterus, making dilation even easier, and has benefits on milk production and breastfeeding once the baby is born.

I read a couple of serious, peer reviewed scientific articles on the matter when I was pregnant, but I no longer remember the details.

And I actually ate the dates from 34 weeks till the 40th week, when I gave birth. I was in labor for only 2 hours, so I guess it worked for me...

I ate dates everyday during my 3rd trimester and I drank raspberry leaf tea 2 times a day. The doctors thought I was going to give birth in 2 hours but they were wrong. I pushed 3 or 4 times and he was already out and my uterus went back to normal very quickly and I didn’t bleed a lot either after giving birth, Oh and I didn’t tear at all either. I don’t regret eating dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea, and using my birth ball.

I’m not saying castor oil is safe, but pitocin and epidurals are also well known to cause fetal distress, yet a lot of OBs push/encourage them.

And the yoga ball is not so much inducing labor as it is for rotating the baby and getting them on your cervix and while opening the pelvis. It does something helpful! Not something to ignore.

I was 2 weeks over due with my second child. My blood pressure was through the roof, but I absolutely did not want to be induced. So I laid back on the couch, and really tried to recreate the sensation of a suckling baby through nipple stimulation. It took 30 minutes, and I was in full blown labor and almost didn’t make it to the hospital lol.

Yoga ball made my water break at the hospital with my first (they wouldn’t induce me because I was over a month early but I was in labor for 5 days at 5cm, water broke shortly after bouncing on the yoga ball), went into labor 5 minutes after sex with my second, and sex helped induce labor with my third.

Dates are known to reduce pain during labor. This has been known and practiced by Muslims for 1, 400 years. Eating an excessive amount everyday can stimulate labor and women who are early on in pregnancy are taught to stay away from dates until the last month of pregnancy for this reason.

I don't know about labor, but raspberry leaf tea was recommended by my midwife for postpartum shrinking of my uterus (it apparently helps tone the uterus?). I also started drinking it before my periods and there is a noticeable reduction in period bloating and cramps, compared to before I started drinking the tea

I am glad people are supporting that eating dates regularly do help! Also bouncing on a yoga ball should also help if walking does. Every OB/GYN has different medical opinions

They have actually found in studies in the Middle East that dates can help you go into labour but mostly help to shorten the length of labour

Its interesting that they say not to use castor oil when Pitocin does pretty much the same thing.

I find it ironic that certain doctors will say natural remedies don’t work or are not safe then make you sign a paper that if their medicine kill you your family won’t sue 😒

We have 8 kids and i also worked as an RN in L&D. Using a breast pump is the best way to try and induce labor if your body is ready. I used this with my last few pregnancies and it really helps. Also quite a few of my friends did too. Not going to lie. I used a breast pump on both at the same time and so did they. No matter what, if your body isnt ready though, nothing will change it.

Starting Red raspberry leaf tea and eating dates at like 37 weeks pregnant actually has helped hundreds of women to give birth naturally. There’s tons of stuff I wish I had done the first time around! It’s safe to get a second opinion from doctors and as long as you follow instructions you and baby are safe.
