Thanks for telling me this retracts on the USB-A side. The quality control is not up to par. You saved me a purchase. You did not waste any time showing me this. You save me money.

Just want to note the SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 (CZ880) is now referred to as being USB 3.2 Gen 1 under the new naming scheme from the wankers at USB. Product is 100% the same and is retaining the same model number, just with the "USB 3.1" changing on both device and packet to reflect "USB 3.2 Gen 1". I hope this helps someone who gets confused. This was a major confusion on the forums.

Excellent video! I didn't think there was such a vast difference between the two.

Just buying a Sandisk Extreme pro 256gb and 128gb. Thankfully it got a lot cheaper after 11 months. you can find them now for just $58 and $39 respectively. Hopefully quality and performance are the same.

It seems, that the 64G-Ultra-Stick is QLC (or TLC) with pseudo-SLC-Buffer (the buffer ist filled at the moment the data-rate slows down).
The Extreme Pro is TLC and the hight performance comes from paralleling the data-pipes to 8 or more channels.
The question is, how long does the data keep alive with the stick in strong conditions, i.e. daily temperature change (-20 to +80°C)?
For normal condition they offen give 10 years data duration but for extreme conditions its much shorter.

Both are fine in their own right. I'd buy (even a bunch of) the smaller one for recovery "live CDs" and Windows install media creation. Also for getting photos/videos off your phone while traveling. And the larger one for system drive backups. 256GB fits a non-gaming Windows nicely with some incremental backups.

I bought $15 one just jesterday and using it as multiboot (Windows, Linux, tools like partition manager, winpe, cloning tools, ...) usb key and it works 😁

I’d just get a 500GB actual ssd for the same price as the SLC cache is higher on these

what 256gb would you recommend buying today in 2022?

Does it keeps the same speed (extreme pro) when you write small files (xls, doc, txt, mp3) too?

Does the speed reduce with the USB C adopter?

Never saw a fastest USB. It seems really good.
But for 90 buks (today 30/9/2021 50 buks) we need also a USB - C connector.

its a 64g to a 256g being tested, of course its going to cost more considering its 4x the capacity, to make it equal and just testing speed to price, the slower one at 128g is 17$, but also the extreme pro WITH 128G is 43$, please make it more accurate with the price in the title, your not spending the whole 90 on speed, its also the capacity of the drive that raises it. other then all that it was a great review and did help alot on which i pick, so thank you not trying to give a hard time but just something i noticed. subbed.

Reminds me of an OTF Microtech knife. I have had one and want one again. You should get one if legal in your area.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this drive, as I am considering a 256GB version. Does it have an activity light?
