The way you find out about the most obscure tech and then explain it in plain language - elite!!

This cable cost 47 cents to make in their Chinese sweat shops

Apple be like: if we can't have lightning cable, we're gonna charge you your soul for a 9 year old cable technology

Of course the Thunderbolt cable is much more expensive than a normal USB cable! Thunderbolt does much more than USB at a much higher bandwidth! They should've compared the complexity and price of the Thunderbolt cable with other Thunderbolt cables instead of USB!

Jacklyn don’t know if it is worth the price but absolutely worth the explanation. Thanks for sharing always great information.✌️💯

I don’t care how complex it is it’s a usb cable it doesn’t need to be complex

Charging cable and a Thunderbolt 4 cable are completely different specifications.

This is comparing Apples to Oranges.

The difference is because USB-C guarantees "up to", while Thunderbolt guarantees the "max speed".

They matter a lot? BS! I can buy at least 10 thunderbolt cables for same cost, and they will last longer than one friggin cable from apple!

Thunderbolt 4 has extra signal converters and power delivery for higher power with e marker and high data transfer and wiring components must be high quality to handle active and passive signals. Also certification for thunderbolt 4 costs money from Intel.

I use a £20 cable. I've tested it up to max speeds. Works well. Try using a non-apple cable on a Mac and watch the drop in speeds. What do you think those chips on the cable do.

If you’re interested, Adam Savage of tested did a big, deep dive with the guys that scanned the cables and they compare it to many different USB type cables

It’s not all about efficiency, but the thunderbolt protocol, SNR and durability.

The cable as active circuitry. That requires power which makes this cable less efficient as a normal cable would require no power....

Because Isheep will pay anything that apple says it's worth.

Not many people know the difference between a USB-C Charging Cable and Data Cable (Thunderbolt) Also Intel has very strict specifications that Manufacturers have to Retain, since they give out the licenses and provide the chips within the connectors. In addition to that of course Apple wants a slice of the cake and puts a premium on it.

This video is like:
-Why a Lambo cost half a million dolars? - Well, if you look closely, Lambo has more wheels than a Yamaha.

Still astonishingly overpriced though, right? when you can get a cable of the same length and power rating that also hits its 40gbps target from anker for 90 dollars less

The point is that it’s a thunderbolt cable not a usb cable. It’s meant for high data transfer not to charge your phone

It's chiefly because Apple users will pay for it.

Look, USB 4.0 is 40 GB/s, there's not many devices other than DISPLAYS that can use that kind of bandwidth. Most disk drives won't be able to keep up with that speed, certainly no SD Cards can.

Do you know how long it takes to transfer a 2 GB file on 1 GB? About 30 seconds. 2GB is about the size of an operating system.

We're at the point of "who cares if it's faster"? If my Internet speed was 100 MB/s I would only notice it once in a blue moon.
