Inkscape Lesson 3 - Fill and Stroke Settings

Показать описание
Inkscape is professional, free, open source Vector Graphics software.

Notes from this tutorial:
To change the thickness of a stroke, click on Object in the menu bar and select fill a stroke to bring the fill and stroke options. You can also right-click the object and select the option there.
The Fill and Stroke Options have three tabs:
The Fill Tab allows us to change the color of the object body using the RGB, HSL, CMYK, Wheel, or CMS options.
In the Fill tab, next to the X there are also available options to apply linear, radial, and mesh gradient, as well as pattern and swatch.
When the Pattern option is selected you can choose from many Pattern fills, or apply Blur, and Opacity effects
The Stroke Paint Tab allows us to change the color of the Stroke with the same Flat color options (RGB, Wheel..).
Use the Stroke Style to change the Width and other characteristics of the stroke.

I just finished the third lesson in this video series and it has helped me to go from totally clueless to feeling like I can actually figure this software out. Thanks a million!

What is really neat about your tutorials, is that you include the problems to avoid and how to overcome them. Thanks.

Cool, Calm and Collected, good talking speed - not too slow, not too fast.
And maybe the most important - you say what you do while you are doing it - great for learning, understanding and remembering.
I will be watching all and I will most certainly be coming back for refreshers.
Well done !

Thank you so much for the videos. I'm a retired engineer who built a laser engraver. I have been struggling to learn Inkscape and Photoshop to create images for my laser. They seemed so counter-intuitive to me after many years of using CAD softwares. The only thing more frustrating than trying to use the software was trying to follow YouTube videos with someone talking 300 mph and making no sense. You are extremely clear, concise, and logical. Perfect videos. Again, THANK YOU!

Thanks for this. Most people just talk and talk bragging about how much they know. Nothing fancy, you keep that to a minimum and really tell us what we need to know to get started. Well done.

This series of tutorials is one of the best I have ever watched. That's saying a lot because I'm 51 years old and I have watched a lot of them! You have a talent for teaching. Thank you!

I am making a plan for a tank and I am using a lot of objects to create it. After duplicating a series of rectangles I noticed that some of the strokes were quite thin. Using this tutorial I was able to select the various objects and thicken or thin the stroke as needed. I used the box to type in the size of the stroke, hit enter and it was the size I wanted. I have also used the guides from the Guides tutorial to correct all of the angles on the drawing I thought were correct. Thanks for sharing all of these tutorials.

I'm coming from Illustrator and I find Inkscape so much more intuitive. I can't believe this software is free!
Thank you so much for the tutorials, I can't wait to continue through them. (:

Thank you so much for these great lesson! I am a first time user, and I made EXACTLY what I wanted to make, just using what you taught in these first three videos. I look forward to watching the rest of them and exploring this great program more. I'm already considering donating to the program, as it seems AWESOME! I am a fiction writer, and this program is perfect for designing vehicles, creatures and more from my stories! Epic stuff, keep up the great work! You and Inkscape rock! P.S. you are so right about how versatile the shapes are, there is almost no need for any freehand stuff. I made great little stick figure people out of pinched faded grey-filled beige-lined circles! I was actually really impressed with what I was able to do on my first try!

This series has "explain like I'm 5" energy and I'm living for it. I was trying to use Krita for vector art and I'm not familiar with either the program or the style, and I kept getting frustrated with the huge number of tools and settings that I don't need or know how to use. The fact that you can just go to the top in Inkscape and change the size by millimeters leads me to believe this program and I are going to get along.

This might come out harsh but you help me with my imposter syndrome by showing your errors, it's what makes your tutorial better than the rest for me

I just downloaded this software. I can tell it is going to keep me busy for a while as I learn it all. One more tool in the arsenal, so to speak. Not only will it be useful as companion software to Krita for comix layouts, I could also use it to design templates for printing. These days, I think we all need things to fill our lives with happy stuff.

I was painting a cloud around a picture, to make it look dreamy. I wanted to have some white fading inward and couldn't get the the gradient to work. So much frustration, but then finished the vid and BAM BLUR TO THE RESCUE hahahaha thank brother!
