Knowing russia, the Poseidon torpedo will be fired, will wander around the ocean for a few months doing nothing, then will return to a russian port where it will explode.

I was a Marine infantry officer for 21 years with 3 years in combat. I learned to never underestimate my enemy regardless of their claims.

America has a system to detect all missiles launch on Earth, but they couldn't detect Chinese balloon for 2 weeks

"Russia claims..." All I needed to hear, I can sleep peacefully at night knowing it doesn't exist now.

Either it:
1) Never existed,
2) Existed, but was never what they said it was,
3) Was sabotaged by corruption so is being hidden,
4) Failed catastrophically

Russia: makes wildly impossible claims about their military equipment
NATO: assumes those claims are true and creates an effective counter to it
Russia: surprised pikachu face

And regarding the Poseidon torpedo being impossible to build because it would generate too much heat - well, maybe the "Western experts" forgot the fact that it is going underwater and can have intake for sea-water to be used as coolant. Simple solution - yet effective. But hey, let's underestimate Russian scientists, same as the west did with their rocket engines derived from N1 rockets. Nobody in the west thought it was possible to build a rocket engine powerful as NK-33.

Putin’s bark is far worse than his bite. I’m not even sure anymore that Russian canteens can hold water.

Hearing you list all it "capabilities" just makes it clear the torpedo is a fantasy weapon.

If Russia is talking... its a lie. If Russia is not talking... they are thinking about a lie.

Anything running under water at 80 knots would so much distortions that it could be tracked by satellite using a simple thermal scan,

The torpedoes on the submarine Kursk were quite effective.

The propeller on that torpedo (even fuzzed out) is simply too small to deliver the claimed speed

Why is no one talking about how long it takes to fully power up a nuclear reactor?

Putin is trying his own little Star Wars program. Unfortunately for him the United States has his fictional devices covered.

As a USA Air Force vet, I will say you people are ridiculous if you take Russia for granted! If Russia say they have this torpedo I rather believe it and prepare for it than be a arrogant idiot and get caught with my pants down!

I know all threats should be taken seriously, but I think the key phrase here should be "if all works as it should". This I doubt is the case. Russian technology usually is underwhelming.
