How do Toilets Work?

Toilets are one of the marvels of the world. While you might not think so, they allow most of humanity to never have to think about their waste. You might not think much about the toilet in your house, but you’d certainly think twice if you didn’t have a toilet there.

But, how do these porcelain thrones actually work?

When you showed the siphon operation, you should have shown "all" the water in the bowl be siphoned away. Water would not have remained in the bowl the way it was shown, because this would create a vacuum in between the departing water and the remaining water.

I literally found out how this works yesterday, so I'm here to tell you how you got it wrong! 😜 Your illustrations are of two completely different types of toilet tank. 1:02 Your side view shows a US style toilet where the handle opens a flapper valve in the bottom of the tank that just let's the water out downwards. But the inset diagram labelled "Graphic with more detail" shows a UK-style cistern, where the handle forces water up a tube that forms a siphon, as labelled, so there isn't a naked hole in the bottom of the tank like there is on the main image.

The demo does not empty the entire toilet. I’m curious how that works.
1. How water level is kept constant in a toilet after emptying all that were before.
2. How (what force) it empties in the first place.

Fun fact: in the streets before toilets was made people threw their poop out in the streets and it became a hazard for cities so they made toilets
