In this short video we explore the Blood Games conducted by the Adeptus Custodes. These are military practices done to test the defense of Terra. Blood Games allow the Custodes to test their combat abilities in real life situations.

Just imagine, you're a necron lychguard being held in a prison chamber, and they just come in one day and go "Hey, wanna try to kill our boss?"

I recall hearing a dark eldar infiltrated the palace and coincidentally used the same path a custodes did to win the Blood Games, which ended up being sealed. It resulted in the Eldar's death.

Some Custodes have spent decades, slowly infiltrating the Palace, hiding one spot for years until the slightest oversight or moment of weakness from their brethren allows them to move just the slightest bit closer to the Emperor. Once it ends, as they finally reach the throne room or are caught, the methods used are analyzed, the weaknesses corrected, and the defense adjusted to account for the route.

Let's not forget that after every Blood Game they go over extensively what worked and what didn't, so that the breach techniques that occurred this time could never happen again.

If I recall correctly. The custode that raised his blade to the emporer was Ra. Ra wasn't going to strike the emporer, ofcourse. Only suprise him by saying he had won, and letting the emporer see his raised blade. That is until the emporer called him out by name without turning around. The emporer had known Ra was there the whole time. And was testing to see if he would strike. Ra would later go on to do something very important to the emporer...

I always love the idea of a chaos marine being transported to terra for the blood games. The value of the cargo he is means they can't kill him. So he spends the entire trip, not corrupting, not killing, but being a massive Karen.

Short story of The custodes who raised his blade to the emperor:

Ra Endymion was one of the emperor's finest closest custodian bodygaurd and was a beast among custodes in battle,
(During battle of webway)
He was tasked with banishing Drachnyen; the first demon to ever exist, born when the first man was murdered by his own kind and was Power enough to kill the emperor.
The Emperor trapped Drachnyen in a blade as he could not kill him and stabbed Ra Endymion with it, the blade had the power to force any mortal who weilds it into submission and possess them but Ra's mental fortitude was so immense that he was unscathed.
He then ran as far as he could into the webway on the Emperors command where he could hide Drachnyen as the demon blade slowly ate away at his life.
After about 10000 years the blade was rediscovered by Abaddon the despoiler deep in the webway near a golden beacon, presumed to be the body of Ra, uncorrupted.
It's just a speculation of what happened to Ra as his true fate is still unknown
