These cars all have their pros and cons but over all they are all tried and tested with a huge range of drift parts.

Lightweight, rear wheel drive are getting harder to find and getting more and more expensive.

If you’re starting off, get yourself anything to just get yourself out on track and have fun!

I agree ‘for the purpose’. I believe at the heart of drifting is to have fun. Keep it affordable to you and have fun is the best car. One of my favourite times drifting was in a 1.6 mk1 mx5.

Volvo RWD Wagons like the older 850 or 700 series. also the 240 Evo.

Also the one you can afford and have fun in is probably the best definitely. I agree. 100%.

Wrong silly, its the one you built for the cheapest FOR THE PURPOSE... the one you bought the cheapest means jack squat in this economy. If you're lucky, you might find a more legendary car with modifications already done to them, effectively dropping their resale value potentially close enough to the middle class to not need to take out a second mortgage. Mortgage by defintion in so many words means death clause lol. You also then may need to have cheap readily available parts for repair/service plus good yet economical aftermarket parts and support. Also, no respect was paid to some of the other JDM cars originally involved in the birthright of grassroots to mainstream played out up-bringing movement of drifting. Some of the listed cars that are popular only played a role Quite a bit of good drift capable vehicles came before the household model names... and none of the cars manufactured in that period were originally equipped for drifting, however some of the older cars can be be bought and had built for the purpose much cheaper and potentially easier. Also, you're looking at drivetrain swaps with so called german engineering if you want something for the purpose rugged, durable, and serviceable for the endeavors of drifting... i guess maybe if you hit the tarmac once or twice a year, it might not shat its bottom end out or put damn near every rod into thousands of pieces on the ground or out of the fender.
