How... how did you know I use highlighters to color my hair? 😭
I’m pretty sure me coloring my hair bright colors have been a protest to my overly strict catholic school days.
Keep fighting the rebellion!

Having the reputation of the good kid is an amazing tool. It allows you to make change without being labeled as anything bad. I started a grade wide protest against a rule I had in 7th grade regarding assigned lunch seats. The popular kid and I teamed up, because she knew I was going to have my concerns taken seriously. While she did the petitioning, I did the negotiating. It ended up working.

I'm guessing the girls were allowed a purse because seeing a tampon through a plastic bag would give every teacher a heart attack. I would have loved to see that meeting when they realised what see through bags would mean for half their students. That must have been awkward

My elementary school had a rule where you couldn't wear anything with the name or logo of a cigarette or alcohol brand. My brother was deployed overseas with the military. I should have asked him to bring me back a T-shirt in Arabic or Japanese (he was stationed in Japan and Bahrain most of the time) with the name of a beer or cigarette company from one of those countries. This was the early 90's pre internet and no one would have been any wiser. A lot of kids at that school had deployed older siblings or cousins who brought them things in different languages. I could have told them "Oh, my brother said "Kirin" is just a soda pop company that's popular over there in Japan". It was a rural school practically in the middle of nowhere in the early 90's, fresh out of the 80's with no internet access so the teacher couldn't punch in "Kirin" and find out it's actually a Japanese liquor.

On picture day, girls have to wear sweaters/cardigans because if your shoulders were showing, you got dress coded. Me and my friends joked about this during lunch by saying stuff like “Shoulders! So scandalous!” and one guy sitting at the table next to us shouted “Put away those shoulders before someone gets pregnant!”. For the rest of the day, we laughed and said that.

In my school we have uniforms, but they have HAIR RESTRICTIONS. We weren't allowed to have colored clips, only black. BLACK. NOT EVEN WHITE. The teachers said the other colors were "too distracting". Earrings were not allowed. There was this gal that had a truckload of ribbons in her hair, all a different color and she was the one to say " hey your clips are blue thats not allowed!"

My junior high had a rule that "pants must be worn as pants"

Still wish I knew the story behind that one

THANK YOU for telling me about the “Imaginary Audience” because whenever I get the feeling that someone is judging me I always think about what you told me about and I will myself to convince myself that it’s just the imaginary audience. I’m really grateful for it because it helps me with my undiagnosed anxiety that I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I HAVE DOCTORS!!! Either way thank you for this video ❤❤❤
