Fusion Pro is the original, patented, stain proof and color perfect grout. Only from Custom Building Products

Installing formula Fusion Pro grout is faster and easier than ever.
Since it's not a cement, epoxy or urethane-based grout, using Fusion Pro is a little different.

Before you begin, review the Technical Data Sheet online for detailed instructions.

Have the right tools on hand: a medium-to-hard rubber float, buckets and fresh water, grout sponges, a nylon scrubber and microfiber towels. Fusion Pro cures by evaporation so the area needs adequate ventilation.

Make sure the tile has been set for at least 24 hours, the mortar is dry and the substrate does not have a high moisture emission rate.
Tile surfaces and coatings vary widely, so always perform a test with the grout.

CUSTOM recommends presealing or applying grout release when working with hard-to-clean tiles such as porous, textured or coated tile -- or any natural stone.

Begin grouting by wiping the surface with a clean, lightly damp grout sponge. Do not allow any water to puddle on the tile or in the joints. Holding the grout float at a 45 degree angle spread Fusion Pro across the tiled surface, completely filling the grout joints.

The first time you use Fusion Pro, only grout a few square feet at a time. Once you're comfortable, you can extend the area but do not spread for more than one to four minutes at a time. You can spread more Fusion Pro when conditions are cold and damp; less when conditions are warm and dry.

Unlike conventional grouts, clean-up begins immediately, before grouting the next section. Do not allow Fusion Pro to dry or skin-over prior to cleaning.

After spreading, use your float, held at a 90 degree angle, to remove excess grout. Make sure the joints stay full.

Now, using a clean, lightly-damp grout sponge, go over the freshly grouted area.

Clean the grout by holding the sponge flat to the surface and work in a light, circular motion.

Maintain the shape and fullness of the joints as you move across the tile. Residue on the sponge helps to loosen grout on the tile.
Use a light touch and do not over-scrub or over-water.

Then, hold a clean, lightly-damp grout sponge flat against the tile and do a clean-wipe across the tile, diagonally, in one direction.
Flip the sponge and repeat, rinsing as needed to keep it clean.
Drag a clean, moderately damp microfiber towel over the tile – removing any remaining grout from the surface.

Make sure to refill your bucket with fresh water every 30 to 40 feet. Keep the sponge and towel as clean as possible and wring them out fully after each rinse.

Here are some contractor tips: If any grout dries on the surface, re-dampen it right away. Wait two to four minutes and gently agitate with a sponge or nylon scrubber before continuing with the clean-up.

You can also reapply a small amount of grout to help re-emulsify the product and then wipe it clean. Two hours after clean up, inspect the surface for streaks or residue. If streaks or haze are present, apply Aqua Mix Non-Cement Grout Haze Remover (or Tile Lab Grout and Tile Cleaner). Let it soak in for a few minutes then lightly agitate with a white nylon scrub pad. Wipe the surface with clean water and a sponge -- and lightly buff the tile with a microfiber towel.

When grouting both walls and floors together, protect horizontal surfaces from excess wash water used to clean the vertical surface.

Give Fusion Pro three days to fully harden – a little longer in colder temperatures or in higher humidity.

The tile can usually be opened up for light traffic after 24 hours.

With Fusion Pro, there's no need to return and seal the grout.
Guaranteed stain proof and color perfect. Fusion Pro Single Component Grout.

We know grout. Count on Custom.

I dont comment much on youtube, but as a DIYer, wanted to attempt to instill some confidence to would be pro fusion grout users. Used this stuff for subway tiled 80 sq ft shower surround. Must have the surface damp, then really pack the grout lines. My suggestion is to focus on the lines, try not to get caught up smearing grout on the tile surface or you will increase your clean time. Take your time, be patient, and you will be proud of yourself and your work. After seeing all the negative comments on this and other videos, not to mention the reviews from Home Depot site, I almost returned this shit and bought traditional grout. Although, when you think about it, if it takes twice the time to apply, but you don’t have to seal it or re-seal it ever, then its time well spent on the front end. Pack those grout lines, and be meticulous with the cleaning - you should have no issues. Remember as well, if we wanted this shit to look “professional” we would have hired a professional. Be easy on yourself, have reasonable expectations, be patient, and you will be pleased with the outcome!

I just used this grout for the first time and at first I absolutely hated it. Once I learned the secret it was much easier to use and I actually got great results with it. The biggest and most important thing to do is to DAMPEN the surface first. Don't go in and soak it, just use a fully wrung out sponge or towel and get it damp. Once you do you'll see that the grout spreads MUCH easier. If you don't dampen it literally sticks to everything and feels like you're trying to spread on sand paper. Once it's damp it works like a charm. Here's my process:

1) Get two buckets, each with a sponge.
2) Dampen surface to be tiled.
3) Apply with a grout float, about 2-4ft squared at a time.
4) LIGHTLY buff with sponge from first bucket to remove all the extra product. You'll literally feel it get smooth when you're done.
5) Wipe with sponge from second bucket.
6) Wipe with a damp microfiber.
7) Lightly buff with dry microfiber.

If you follow that process I'm willing to bet you'll love the results you get and won't find the grout hard to work with at all.

I was having problems with haze after using Fusion Pro grout. I finally tried pre-coating the area with a thin coat of their Aqua Mix Grout Release and I've not had a problem since then. All I've done is wet a paper towel with Grout Release and lightly run it over all the tiles that might be touched by grout or the cleanup procedure. I tried to use a VERY thin coat, as light as I could make it, so there was no puddling or drainage into the grout lines. Let it sit for a while to dry, though it still seems like a slick oily film afterwards. Haze problem resolved. It does create an extra step before doing the actual grouting, but it's worth it.

ok i figured this out! first off i dont do tile for a living, but was taught by a master floor installer.
this is how i apply the grout on my 12 x 24 wall and floor tiles,
1) do a single ~24" grout line at a time.
2) put a big dab on float and and work in between tiles til full.
3) rake float across bucket remove excess. then strike at 45 degree angle remove excess from wall or floor.
4) here is the secret! next take float and clean with sponge. take clean float and pull tight at 45 degree angle, basically use it like a squeegee. wipe clean and repeat. wipe tile with CLEAN damp sponge. DONE!
5) buy a quality float, i use QEP 4 in. x 9.5 in. Universal Grout Float. dont try this with a H.D. $5 float, it'll just make it worst. i agree with the pros, its a pain and babysitting cost time and $. if i installed tile for a living ld look at other products. i do like most of customs products, but this one takes time and patients.

Do NOT use a float! This is a relatively new product and requires a change in application. I get excellent results using a two inch wide plastic mud knife (taping knife) to pack Fusion Pro into the grout line at a 90 degree angle. Lightly dampen the tile surface before application, looking for the material to bulge at the edges of your knife to confirm a good fill. After progressing down the grout line use the mud knife to smooth the grout along the grout line (not across the line, as when initially packing the channel). Use the mud knife to scrape excess material from the top of the tile, placing the recovered material further down the grout channel (do NOT return to the original container). Work no greater than four to six 1-foot tiles at a time to prevent the grout from curing on the tile surface (making cleanup painful). Three 5 gal buckets filled half way makes the job a breeze. The first bucket for the initial cleanup, the sponge damp (not wet) moving across the grout lines at an angle. This is going to leave the Fusion Pro spread across the tile with a toothpaste like consistency. Rinse the sponge, do a second pick-up in a circular pattern using the least downward force possible. The remaining residue on the surface of the tile is removed with the second sponge bucket, using a sponge with micro fiber material attached to the bottom side. Use the least amount of pressure possible, clean and rinse the sponge as often as possible. The final clean up is using the 3rd bucket using a micro fiber cloth lightly dampened, dragging the towel across the tile (at an angle to the tile grout line) using just the corners to hold the towel as you would using a chammy cloth, letting the weight of the towel apply the proper pressure for removing the residue. A very slight haze may remain, easily removed later with a dampened terry cloth after the grout line cures. This is a great product if used in this manner, no post application sealing required and excellent color consistency. I personally don't use grout release because its to easy to contaminate the grout line.

Some of the comments here are pretty funny.
I suspect some thought you just take the lid off and it grout the tile for you.
Some bought it, did zero research or practice runs on extra tile the went immediately to home depot to complain that its junk.

Well, just did my first grout job with this product. I can concur with others that (at least in my case) it is quite thick compared to what I see being spread in this video. I only had about 8 square feet to do and I broke it up into two sections. I forgot to lightly dampen the tile surface before applying product, so maybe this made it a bit tougher to work with. I ended up using a putty knife to fill the joints then used a rubber float to apply pressure. I put way too much on, so clean up took quite awhile. My job was made even more challenging by uneven tiles thanks to whoever installed the tiles, or maybe there was shifting over time. I don't know if I would use this product again. I'd like to try traditional grout and sealer and see if that trips my trigger. Honestly, if this went on as thin as the video shows, it would have been an easier job. I wonder if it would be beneficial to mix the product up just like you need to do for drywall pre-mix? At any rate, I do like how it turned out. Is it perfect, hell no. Does it look way better than the other grout, oh yeah! Am I happy I don't have to seal it ever, yup! Let me know if you have any questions.

I recommend renting a hydraulic jack hammer to chip the grout off the tile face 15 seconds after applying.

Just did half of my shower ..the haze is there ..you definitely gonna need to clean ur haze after, just doing it with sponge won’t come off

Good video however using regular grout with a sealer in is much faster
Using the sponge even wrung out still has a bit of water so when your grouting, some becomes very wet

This product will definitely leave hazes on tiles no matter what and you should use a haze cleaner and scrub a lot!

I had a professional use Fusion Pro for my new shower install. He used it on the bathroom floor, shower walls and shower basin( floor). This work was performed in summer of 2017.

After about 1.5 years I noticed the color started to loose its brightness. We do not use any harsh chemicals to clean the floor. Just soap and water is all that is needed. The color used was bright white. The floor tile grout looked great until the color changed to a kind of light dirty gray. Tried to cleaned the tile with a brush and soap and water but no change.

The shower walls seem to be ok but again there is the grout color change like the the bathroom floor grout.

The really bad issue is the shower basin/floor grout not only lost it's color but the grout was breaking up in the area where I stand and wash myself.

So I am doomed to keep repairing the grout with fusion pro unless I have a contractor come and rip out the floor and start over with super expensive epoxy based grout. I think after I let the grout cure for 7 days I'm going to apply some thompson water seal to the grout and see if that makes a difference. I will keep this review updated.
