Admittedly... of my personal top 30 "dumbest" people I have ever met (not meaning "uneducated", because many of the had college degrees). About 27 of them were born and bred US citizens.

The only 3 people I've met who didn't know "Australia really existed" were from the US. The 2 seperate people who asked if I "drove from Australia to the US" when I visited.

The 2 people who didn't know that our Sun was a star (they apparently thought it was some "special and unique" object in the universe). The guy who thought Earth didn't have a moon, AND the guy who thought we had 7 moons, both were from the US.

The woman who genuinely thought that all people born and living in Africa were all "African Americans". The woman who told me that "Jesus was American". The guy who told me that the US was the oldest civilisation on Earth... were all from the US.

The people who got seriously mad at me (an Australian) because I didn't vote in the US elections (and blamed me for the US going downhill)... they were of course also from the US.

The couple who yelled at a vendor in Colombia for not "speaking English" and not selling "real food" (hamburgers and hotdogs apparently). Guess where they were from. and so on and so on.

I wish it was just dumbasses on the internet. But you can easily encounter them in the real world saying stuff so stupid that you actually freeze up and can't respond just trying to process that level of idiocy.

I’m a Brit. Just asked my 10 year old some of these questions. She laughed at how easy it was. Showed her some of the people in the video, she asked if they were getting them wrong on purpose. Really worrying. If there’s a greatest country in the world, the education system would have equipped the citizens to answer these questions. Really disturbing to see, worse than we all expected.

This is the problem with the US when every day from every US media you are told you are living in the greatest country on the planet you actually believe it and don't bother learning a lot because of it as you feel you are already the best because you are American. The American bubble needs to burst.

Once when I (a Canadian) was about 7, we were staying at a KOA campground in California. I was playing at the playground and started playing with another (American) girl, about the same age, maybe a little older. She asked me what state I was from, so I told her "I'm Canadian. In Canada we call them provinces, and I am from British Columbia." She gave me a blank look and said "No. What STATE are you from?" As if I hadn't just explained it to Seven-year-old me was just shaking my head.

This is exactly what's wrong with America. Your basic education SUCKS. I don't blame the people, I absolutely blame your government. Your government knows that keeping the majority of people stupid means you can control them better and that benefits the people who have money for a good education. 99% of the problems America is currently facing: education, racism, raging poverty, drugs, violence, your perception of "freedom", healthcare, etc... can absolutely be cured by GOOD education in the long term.

I was shocked by the lack of confidence the girl who was asked what 33 divided by 3 was. He barely even got the question out before she said that she didn't know. She is programmed to not use her mind.
