QOTD: What other videos would you like to see about charcoal? What charcoal topics/ techniques do you want me to talk about? 💕

charcoal is one of my favorites... it has the diamond potential for every drawing you make... you know a diamond is nothing more then a piece of charcoal that handled stress exceptionally well.

Am I the only one who enjoys the mess? I love looking at my hands and seeing them covered in charcoal. I love using my hands on the paper, I love really immersing myself. But I guess that's just me 😅

When I attended university I was first introduced to charcoal by my instructor through vine charcoal. This messy problem really turned me off of the medium. Imagine my surprise and delight when I figured out there are charcoal pencils! Such a much more enjoyable experience. You make some fantastic suggestions around this issue in this video. Very well done!

This has really helped, I've picked up charcoal recently and drawing in general for the first time since I was a teen.

Kirstey, just stopping by to say thanks for all the videos. Over a few years I’ve practiced what you teach. You even critiqued one of my drawings, and this helped me so much. Today I’m getting loads of applause for a drawing I have just finished. Thanks!!

Don't forget about Q-tips or "cotton buds" regular and precision tip for blending.

in my country don't have this charcoal pencil..i gotta burn some woods to get charcoal and applied it to my bursh to make a tone.It much easier than using graphite to make a tone.i got this idea (using charcoal) after watching your previous videos.Your videos make me understand more about the technique and it much easier for me as a beginner.Thank you kirsty.your art and your videos are awesome!

Can you please give us advice on artist burnout and how to deal with it? Also on how to push past the dark moods and darker times in a person's life.

Since lockdown. I've loved getting back into art and trying new mediums. I'd never tried water colours until watching one of your videos and now I'm looking forward to trying charcoal. Great channel 👍

Hi Kirsty. You are one of my favorite artist and instructor. I have learned so, so much from you. I have learned more from you in 2 weeks than I have in 4 months from everyone else combined. You explain things very easily and you don't act like a big goof or use sex to get people to watch your videos. I have such a great deal of respect for you. I hope that those who are watching will subscribe and like your videos. I understand how much time it takes to make and post these things. Thanks again.

Charcoal is my favorite medium too. I just love the look and how many shades from light to super dark. I never used my fingers.. Thinking of doing that makes me cringe 😖 I've always used the different size blending sticks, but I never thought to use paint brushes.. So I'll definitely try those at some point.

Hi Kirsty, what paper do you recommend for charcoal.l noticed you used a rough paper in this video, but I like to work on smooth, does it take the charcoal well or is a rough paper better. Thanks for your tutorials, I have learnt so much from them.
