Pierre Poilievre calls for pause in carbon pricing for all home heating in Canada

On Wednesday, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said he's bringing forth a motion to pause carbon pricing on all forms of home heating as winter approaches. This comes after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a temporary exemption that applies only to home heating oil.

My neighbors are elderly. I noticed the exhaust from there furnace was never on. For about a week. I knocked on the door and they answered in full winter coats and overalls. At the front door they had claypots and candles for heat. This is unacceptable !!
When you retire you should not have to pay tax on house you own. This alone would put heat back in there home. I left an envelope for 400 dollars in hopes they would turn on the heat.

So one article where The prime minister wants everybody want everyone to have a heat pump. If you want to heat your house to 65° f heat pumps really stopped working when it gets to 30° f. Winters can be harsh in
many parts of the country.
particularly in the interior
and Prairie provinces,
which experience a
continental climate, where
daily average temperatures
are near -15 °C (5 F), but
can drop below -40 °C
(-40 °F) with severe wind chills. Somebody depending upon heat pump in those conditions would freeze to death.
