Even though I am a Windows PC/mini-PC guy, the M4 Mac Mini stole the value mini-PC of the year award. For roughly $870, you get a CPU with industry leading single-core CPU performance, 24 GB of RAM, 1 TB of external storage, a good iGPU for photo/video editing, 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, and an HDMI 2.0 port. All while being smaller than a hamburger.

This might be the year where the Mac Mini beats the iMac for sales.

Apart from that, a combination of M4 Pro Minis would leave the cluster I built for my customer in the dust, and that for a fraction of the cost.

They give u thunderbolt 5, but still no eGPU support. Lets hope the Asahi team can eventually figure out how to get PCIe working on this architecture. Mac minis would instantly become tiny AI and gaming beasts!

I pre-ordered the M4 Mac mini with 24GB memory, 1TB storage and 10Gigabit Ethernet. Inside the mini, there are two distinct layers of components, the top one being the power supply with the SoC, etc underneath.

I can't stand MacOS or the Mac keyboard layout but these machines just seem to be the standout best value for large LLMs by miles and miles now that Exo is in the picture. I never thought I'd be pricing out and trying to figure out which Mac computers to buy but here we are. I also only recently learned that you can enable remote access and ssh into it from a Windows or Linux machine which is huge!

I've never needed a desktop machine to be smaller than a Mac IIci. I have needed them to have upgradable storage and ram. As much as I have always loved MacOS, I cannot support the move to soldered on storage and ram in desktop machines. Linux has become my primary development OS.

I was just about to order a Linux mini server to replace my old M1 mini. I debated for two weeks and really couldn’t come to a conclusion. I checked eBay for older ones with more ram. Then Apple dropped this mini monster. This is insane. I can’t imagine what the Mac Studio is going to be. I’m hoping for 1TB + of ram. I do a lot of machine learning on large datasets and 192GBs is not enough (yes it’s not enough). This is insane god is good.

Yes, I will be getting a Mac Mini! Considering Apple current marketing and year over year minor upgrades, this is the only product in Apple line up that is actually getting a redesign and a chip grade at the same time. Mac Book Pro, watch out for the Mac Book Duo next year!

I'm still working on an M1 Pro laptop but I think this is the machine I get to finally move to a mini. an M1 Pro with 32GB is probably the sweet spot.
