This was the fastest computer purchase I ever made. And it is the best value for money of any computer I bought since 1979. Absolutely amazing. A computer for the history books.

I agree, a modern Apple based setup can now be achieved for less than 1000 dollars. To me, that’s the biggest development since the previous generation Mac mini

Apple may be positioning the Mac Mini as a competitor to consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. To enhance its appeal, they could introduce a game-console-like UI accessible from Control Center, similar to the Center Stage feature. This would allow users to control the Mac with a PS5 or Xbox controller, making it more gamer-friendly.

Yep! I'm all in. We'll be replacing the Intel-based Mini we have in our studio with an M4 Pro Mini, spec'd up to 24Gb RAM and 1TB SSD. Incredible that Apple has packed this much power into such and adorable little footprint. Waiting for the deluge of Thunderbolt 5 drives to hit the market, which I'm sure won't be long!

You must be mentioning the base Mac mini. It gives 16gb ram but any additional upgrades the pricing is criminal.

I already pre-ordered the base M4 Pro and I'm upgrading from a 2017 Intel MacBook Pro so it will be a HUGE performance upgrade for me. My current Mac does well and it probably still has a few more years but I think it's a good time to switch to Apple Silicon

I preordered an M4 Mac Mini with 24g Ram and a 1TB drive. I also bought a new KVM switch to move between my Linux desktop and 4TB external. Will be here 11/08. Excited!

For me, the 13-inch iPad Pro with the M4 chip has completely replaced my Mac, which I eventually sold.

I still keep a Windows PC for gaming, as Windows remains the dominant platform for PC games. Beyond that, mobile devices have taken over tasks I used to perform on laptops.

The iPad’s design offers a simplicity that traditional PC operating systems lack, yet it doesn’t feel limiting. With cloud services now available for various tasks, an iPad meets the needs of most people, alongside a smartphone, of course.

I’m eager to see how artificial intelligence will influence and transform computing in general.

Is there a recommended affordable 27" display that people are using with the Mac Mini M4, 4k and at least 120Hz?

10 wide decoder is the key feature since 10 years ago (armv8 since then). It means has armv9 instruction set.

Should I buy Mac mini or MacBook Pro both m4 pro 24/36gb ram 1tb ssd base/better cores M4 Pro chip? If I want to use it primarily as a desktop machine and keep it for 5+ years?

Your new setup looks amazing so far,
I am planning to get a Mac Mini for $2, 499 New Zealand dollars having the M4 chip with 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 32GB unified memory 1TB SSD storage.

SERIOUSLY tempted! What do you recommend as a monitor? Is apple due to upgrade their current offerings?
